The program's total expenses were around $10.3 million, with coaches' salaries accounting for $4.4 million. However, the program, despite winning the national championship, only netted $2.5 million in revenue last year.

LSU's football program, which has put together back-to-back 10-win seasons with bowl game wins under head coach Brian Kelly, netted a profit for the university of $54 million.

LSU's men's basketball team generated $1.3 million in profit, as the only other program besides football to turn a profit for the university.
