The Tenth Amendment.

Why do Trumpers want to shred the Constitution, Chief?

If I had this in my yard, would you constantly bitch about it?

the-flasher-gnome.jpg

WTF are you hallucinating about now?????!?

Why should the state have the right to force you to have a thermostat they can control?

They don't. No State constitution authorizes such intrusion. The SDTC, however, is no longer a State of the Union, since it no longer recognizes the Constitution of the United States nor the constitution of the State of California.
It's current form of government is dictatorship.

"sounds like MTG was right"... to stupid people.

You forget to finish that sentence.

this is the same way Magat derps tried to blame renewables for Texas blackout issues, when they helped make things better than they otherwise would have been as that energy was IN ADDITION to Texas still producing as much fossil fuels as the developers could or wanted to produce.
The Texas power grid problems are a perfect illustration of the failure of the Libertarian theory.

Most of the state refuses to tie into the national power grid, so they suffer greatly during severe weather swings.

I believe the northern part of the state is tied to the grid, so they were fine during the last two freezes.

Looks more like a failure of democratic hubris to me. LOL Are you denying Texans voted for this for literal decades? Are you denying that Abbott only serves the majority voting for him?

Yes, IMO, that's a major mistake. I only learned of it after the Big Freeze. Are you denying Abbott, and his friends, have their heads on the chopping block if they kill more Texans with a power failure?

I'm just a short drive south of the Red River and wasn't fine during the Big Freeze.

Yup.

It goes beyond that.

What you see in Texas is Capitalism without any real regulation.

The power utilities simply do not want to use any profits today, to pay to harden their grid's for the very rare extreme heat and cold that can compromise their grid. Not only do they see it as a poor choice for their capital generally but they actually make record profits during those shortage times. So asking them to take money from profits today to cut record profits tomorrow, is just not in the equation.

If that means citizens are greatly inconvenienced and some die, that is just the cost of profits.

That is MAGA, like the days when corporations could just pollute a site, river, town, while maximizing profits and then just leave town and never pay the costs.

And yet we see Magats on this site arguing for less and less regulation on corporations, acting as corporate dupes and not even knowing it.

Exactly. What you get from those who hail Libertarianism.

There are certain things that the govt. is relied upon for, and many of them are loss leaders. A quick study of the Erie Canal bolsters the point.

When profit motive trumps all, there are bound to be problems. You illustrated it perfectly above.

Libertarians want unfettered Capitalism. They believe the free market will work for every aspect of society, when the truth is if there is no profit it won't get done.

The small handful of Randian politicians over the years have all been quick to denounce emergency funding during disasters.

UNTIL it is their state that needs help, then they forget all about the wonders of Libertarianism.

Something a sycho like you wouldn't understand, Sybil. When will you be honest and admit you are actively trying to deceive others?

You don't understand YOURSELF?????!? You think that by talking to yourself you think you are deceiving others while not deceiving others??????!?

You're fucking lost, Sock.

Capitalism doesn't need 'regulation'.
Define this 'pollution'.

Fascism and communism are not capitalism, dummy.

Move to Texas. We don't have any of that shit.

I have a "smart" home, but it isn't state-mandated. Why do you choose to live in such a shithole, Chief?

Unfortunately we do. Some wise-guy Utility company in Houston tricked some homeowners into installing some Smart Thermostats that can be controlled for about an hour during stressful peak utilization periods.

Yes, they promised to enter them into a contest that could win them $5,000!

But, it was strictly voluntary!

Why Freda is going to make a great patsy for his white supremacist "unit".
I always say, the Magat stupidity is our Super Power on the left of them.

See .
At night when the wind stops where do you think your electricity comes from? Fairy dust?

A stupid person gets confounded at HOW it is possible to get Solar and Wind power when the sun stops shining or the wind does not blow...

Oh come on, that's not happening!

And don't give these Monopolists ideas! Please!

It already has happened.

It was first proposed back in 2008

California wants to control home thermostats
https://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/11/world/americas/11iht-calif.1.9147508.html

Today it is a requirement in California building code.

Thermostat Complies with California Energy Code as an Occupant Controlled Smart Thermostat
https://retrofitmagazine.com/thermo...e-as-an-occupant-controlled-smart-thermostat/

Today, the state--utility companies and others managing the grid--can turn off you HVAC remotely in California.

Well, the smart thermostats are good for some homeowners that like to control their thermos from remote. But, I have not heard of California shutting down peoples HVAC systems.

But, just shut your WIFI down to get around it. I have WIFI, but I also have a Q-box that delivers ethernet to everywhere I have a TV in the house.

I use WIFI for my security as well, but I could hardwire that as well, if I needed to.
