A former aide to Donald Trump has said there is "a lack of sharpness" in what the Republican says during his rallies....


...Trump held a rally in Cedar Rapids on Saturday afternoon, after speaking to supporters at another rally in Ankeny.

"Joe Biden is not the defender of American democracy. Joe Biden is the destroyer of American democracy," he said. "So if Joe Biden wants to make this race a question of which candidate will defend our democracy and protect our freedoms, then I say to crooked Joe, and he is crooked, the most corrupt president we've ever had, we will win that fight and we're going to win it very big."...

...In response to his speech, Griffin told host Dana Bash: "It's kind of remarkable, I've been watching the clips from Trump's visit to Iowa and I'm stunned having spent a lot of time with him in 2020 and years before—he is slowing down."

"There's a lack of sharpness in what he's saying and a lack of kind of clarity," she continued. "There's another clip where he basically says he's going to overturn Obamacare, but also says that he'll fix it, just complete inconsistencies and for Republicans our strongest case against Joe Biden is the age and the decline that some of us have seen. And if I'm being honest, head-to-head, I'm not sure which is struggling more."

Former US President Donald Trump mistakenly told supporters that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had recently called on Barack Obama to step down as president of the US.

The gaffe occurred during Trump's speech at a campaign event in Claremont, New Hampshire, on Saturday, as he seeks the Republican nomination ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

In an October 2023 interview, he alleged that Orbán was asked what he would "advise President Obama," adding that the Hungarian leader wants Obama to "immediately resign." Obama's mandate ended in 2017 when Trump was inaugurated.
Last month, Trump made another blooper concerning Orbán, erroneously calling him the leader of Turkey during a rambling speech in Derry, New Hampshire.

The blunders come amid the media's fixation on Biden's mental acuity. A Washington Post-ABC News poll from May revealed that only 32% of respondents were confident in Biden's "mental sharpness" being adequate for the White House.

In line with campaigns to undermine 80-year-old Biden's credibility linked to his seniority and alleged mental decline, Trump's rivals are also challenging his mental capacities. The team behind Florida Gov. Ron DeStantis's stuttering presidential nomination campaign recently posted a thread of clumsy remarks made by Trump, who is 77 years old.

Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, who has had a relatively successful presidential campaign so far, though she lags far behind her former boss, jabbed Trump at a recent event of Jewish donors for speaking positively about the leaders of China and North Korea. Haley said Trump was "confused" about which countries are US allies and adversaries, per The Washington Post.

Haley, 51, added "with all due respect, I don't get confused."....

Eating objects.
Compulsively wanting to put things in the mouth.

Some subtypes of frontotemporal dementia lead to changes in language ability or loss of speech. Subtypes include primary progressive aphasia, semantic dementia and progressive agrammatic aphasia, also known as progressive nonfluent aphasia.

These conditions can cause:

Increasing trouble using and understanding written and spoken language. People with FTD may not be able to find the right word to use in speech.
Trouble naming things. People with FTD may replace a specific word with a more general word, such as using "it" for pen.
No longer knowing word meanings.
Having hesitant speech that may sound telegraphic by using simple, two-word sentences.
