After opening pre-orders for its first three-row electric SUV in October, Kia saw “significant consumer interest,” Eric Watson, Kia America’s VP of sales, explained.
The automaker sent a letter to dealers last month, asking them to resist markups. Kia said, “The EV9 customer is an important new owner” to the brand.
Kia announced Friday that its EV9 has received reservations from customers in every US state. You can reserve the EV9 on Kia’s website for a fully refundable $750 deposit. Customers will receive a gift package include a portable charger, 3-year Kia Maintance Plan, and 1-year subscription to digital services.
The news comes amid Kia’s best-ever November sales month, with 16 straight months of year-over-year growth.
Sales of Kia’s electric models more than doubled compared to last year. Kia sold 1,290 EV6 models, up 101% from 2022.

Electric cars are cheaper to service than gas-powered competitors
Tim Levin Oct 28, 2021, 8:42 AM EDT

Upfront, electric cars tend to cost more than gas-fueled vehicles. But they'll save you money on maintenance in the long run.

That's according to a study out Thursday from We Predict, a predictive analytics firm. The company found electric vehicles cost nearly a third less to service over their first three years of ownership than combustion-engine cars.

We Predict's study contributes to a growing body of research confirming that battery-powered vehicles are cheaper to own than ones that run on fossil fuels. EVs have fewer moving parts that can go bad and don't need some of the routine maintenance required of conventional cars, like oil changes.

The firm analyzed the money manufacturers and owners spent to service more than 13 million 2018-model-year vehicles over their first three years on the road. Service costs included repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, software updates, and recalls. It found that although EVs were more expensive to service early on, by the three-year mark, they became more economical.

Toyota plans to expand battery EV line-up in Europe to 6 models by 2026

The world's largest automaker by sales said in a statement it expected to sell more than 250,000 battery-powered vehicles annually in Europe by 2026, as it seeks steep growth in a market where it has long been overtaken by rivals.
On top of a battery EV the company is currently selling in Europe and a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) concept it already showcased last year, Toyota unveiled two new concepts for models that it plans to sell in the region later this decade.
One was a concept model for a battery-powered small SUV that it plans to launch in Europe in 2024 and the other was a concept for a sports crossover model that is scheduled for introduction in 2025, Toyota said in statements.
Toyota is targeting sales of 1.5 million battery-powered vehicles a year globally by 2026.
Sales of fully electric cars in the European Union (EU) were up more than half over the first 10 months of the year compared to the same period a year earlier, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association showed last month.
