I honestly don't understand people who have voted for candidates from both major parties.
I'm not saying that they're wrong to do so,
but as voters, they can't be very ideological in nature.

The parties actual mean something.
Their core values are substantially different.
I would think that everyone would find one set of values, as a whole, more compatible than the other.

I look at the names in the Democratic Primary.
[Note to illiterate crackers--there's no such thing as the "Democrat Party."]

In the general election, however, the names become irrelevant to me.

I vote for people in both parties in local elections and generally vote for the GOP in state and local elections.

Local issues are totally different and in many areas are not even run as partisan elections.
The top two vote-getting nominees face off regardless of party affiliation.
