Jewish students sue NYU over ‘egregious’ antisemitism on campus that’s left them ‘under siege’ NYU hires Israel-hating professor to lead new ‘indigenous studies’ center Masked man holding ‘white supremacy’ placard at NYU protest repeatedly spits on Jewish sign New York University’s Israeli alumni severed ties with the institution Tuesday over its failure to tackle antisemitism — and after its president allegedly played down the incendiary “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” chant as “not that bad.”

The 2,000-strong NYU Alumni Club of Israel slammed NYU president Linda Mills and told board of trustees chairman Evan Chesler that it would drop ties until the institution tackled antisemitism head-on. The group wrote to Mills and Chesler after a series of on-campus incidents, including a junior admitting to tearing down posters of Hamas kidnapping victims and a “hostile takeover” of Bobst Library earlier this month at which a masked protester was caught on video repeatedly spitting on a banner bearing the word “Jewish.”

One group of Jewish students said they faced chants of “Hitler was right” and “Gas the Jews.”

Some of the alumni held a contentious Zoom call with Mills on Nov. 1 during which, they told The Post, she said the anti-Israeli chant “From the river to the sea” was not necessarily antisemitic — and ate lunch through the meeting.

"In the letter, the alumni group said it wanted the chant classified as hate speech because it demands the genocide of Israel and for NYU to publicly condemn it.

The group is also demanding NYU sanction individual coeds and students groups for using hate speech — and that any faculty who take part in anti-Israel protests be disciplined or fired.

“Times like these require not just words but moral leadership and action,” the letter said.

“We, the alumni of NYU in Israel, cannot stand in silence while NYU students and faculty members chant for the annihilation of the Jewish State of Israel, and intimidate and assault Jewish students on NYU’s campus.

“Until the university can protect its Jewish students from the extreme rhetoric and violence of faculty and student-led hate groups using NYU’s name, the NYU Alumni Club of Israel suspends any cooperation and affiliation with NYU and its institutions.”
NYU Alumni Club of Israel: A Call for Moral Leadership and Actions to Fight Antisemitism Dear President Mills and Chairman Chesler, The worldwide Jewish community is under attack. We are mourning the loss of 1200 women, men, and children brutally murdered by Hamas, and agonizing over the abduction of over 240 people to Gaza, while facing a global rise in antisemitism. NYU is not immune. On the contrary - on the NYU campus, Jewish students have been subject to antisemitic rhetoric and violence from Hamas-supporting students and faculty, including a hostile takeover of the Bobst Library and assaults caught on camera. During your meeting on November 1st with the NYU Alumni Club of Israel, several concerns were raised about anti-Semitic incidents including the use of the abhorrent phrase “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free.” Your justification that there are multiple interpretations of these words was disappointing. Your assurances about the safety of Jewish students are at odds with the on-campus reality today, as we have learned from current students and alumni in New York, and as reflected in the lawsuit being brought by Jewish NYU students. We, the alumni of NYU in Israel, cannot stand in silence while NYU students and faculty members chant for the annihilation of the Jewish State of Israel, and intimidate and assault Jewish students on NYU’s campus.

We call for NYU to take action to prevent antisemitism and hate, and to demonstrate clear and unequivocal support to Jewish students on campus and alumni in Israel by taking the following steps: 1. Ensure the university’s non-discrimination policy prohibits discrimination on the basis of religion. Adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, including all of its examples (collectively, the “IHRA definition”), as official institutional policy for identifying and investigating alleged incidents of antisemitic discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and other conduct. 2. Sanction individual students who engage in antisemitic or hate speech or actions, as well as hate groups such as Students for Justice in Palestine and Faculty for Justice in Palestine until they commit to the eradication of antisemitic speech and disassociation with Hamas. 3. Publish a public condemnation of the phrase “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” and formally classify this phrase as genocidal and hate speech. 4. Commit to the discipline and potential removal of faculty members who engage in hate speech, harass Jewish students, and/or encourage student participation in antisemitic activities. Times like these require not just words but moral leadership and action. Until the University can protect its Jewish students from the extreme rhetoric and violence of faculty and student-led hate groups using NYU’s name, the NYU Alumni Club of Israel suspends any cooperation and affiliation with NYU and its institutions. NYU Alumni Club of Israel"

NYU is supporting the student Hamas supporters who are calling for the destruction of Israel and are threatening and intimidating Jewish students.

Universities that support Hamas, which is on the State Dept. list of terrorist organizations, should all be closed.

Supporting terrorism violates federal law.

The universities in this country have become counter productive to the advancement of western civilization.

A public opinion poll published on Nov. 14 showed that 75% of Palestinians support Hamas's murder spree, including rape and be-headings, as opposed to only 13% who disapprove. The poll, conducted by the Arab World for Research and Development (AWRAD), covered 668 respondents across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.1 day ago

Who would want to live beside a group that supports (by 75%) the murders and be-headings of their infant children.
