The only people tearing down our traditions are the post-Boomer generations and the entrepreneurs in tech.
Who on the planet had done more to destroy our traditions than Gates, Job, and Bezos?
Repealing Glass-Steagall blew up traditions as well--possibly a bigger American disaster than the Civil War.

As for language, we never adopted any of the indigenous American languages.
We use England's language, and most of us don't use it anywhere near well enough.

Unfortunately, I would take my chances with a Central American refugee over an American cracker any day of the week.
The devil I know is bad enough to make me try the unknown.
 
Manchin is pro-oil, against choice and women's rights, anti-environment and is pretty Trumpian. His subset in the Dem party is very tiny.

Refugees aren't doing us much good,
I'll admit to that,
but they're just trying to survive.

Nobody considers what's legal or illegal when trying to survive.
Some of us want to help them and some of us don't.
That's what it's really about.

What I keep in my mind is that the settlers in Jamestown and Plymouth Rock
didn't have immigration papers eithers.

Most Americans are intruders upon the indigenous Americans.

They should change where they are, learn to survive

Yes, LR seems to like where he's at. I do, but I'd like to move further out in the sticks.
They're building a development above me, and townhouses too. The woods that were
bordering my lots are gone now. Too much traffic on the road in front of my house.

I used to hunt squirrels too. Now I just feed them peanuts :thinking:

How can you be so wrong? Immigrants are what makes the American economy grow. That cannot get government services. They work, pay taxes and get nothing. They, as a group commit fewer crimes and start more businesses than regular Americans. They are the fuel to a growing economy.
