Why is our system producing 2 weak canididates?

The split was caused by the beginning of far right-wing "news" sources. It fueled the separation and hate. We had 2 parties with somewhat differing views of how to get things done. Now we have enemies of the left who want to destroy the country. The rightys are being programmed to hate. It began with far-right radio that took over the rural news and infiltrated the regular news. People like Rush fed hate to his followers. They gobbled it up. The left still cannot figure out why the right is so damn nasty. But that hate and insult is all the right hears. It has become who they are.

Most Red states are poor. Look at GDP, Texas is the only one that might stand alone. Florida if you consider it red.

I look at democrat controlled cities and I see shitholes no one wants to live in. People abandoning ca and ny in droves. Most normal people don't like living in shitholes but not so for dems.

It's why we need ranked choice voting. You can choose your votes more confidently that you're not just throwing the election for one side or the other.

It's also why some Republican run legislatures (my home state of TN for example) are outlawing ranked choice. They're scared to death of it.

His question is asking why we are in a position with two unpopular candidates. And that discussion can be had without reference to the particular individuals. It's possible to say this is just unlucky circumstance and it's not normally like this and therefore no changes need to be made to our system. But I think it a legitimate question. A lot of people may be in agreement that our system needs changing but have disagreement over what that change would entail. For me at least, I think it a worthy discussion.

We have ranked choice voting in San Francisco and Oakland and not all liberals love it, so it's not just people on the right who aren't/might not be fans.

Biden is somewhat physically frail. However, politically he has done a great job. Trump is a fascist who wants to end the American system and become a dictator. The choice is easy. If we had a younger Joe VBiden he would be trouncing Daffy Donald.
