The current war in Gaza

The has been a growing condemnation if Israel's response to the Hamas attack that left 1400 dead, thousands injured, and 239 taken hostage, an act of war by international standards.
Thus, I pose this question. How does one fight a war when the enemy hides among it's innocent citizens? The Hamas tunnels run beneath apartment houses, schools, hospitals etc. Hamas is effectively using its citizens as human shields.

Remember this isn't the first-time innocents were killed and injured during military operations, the fire-bombing of Dresden in WWII comes to mind.

Comparing body counts is an old strategy from Democrats dating back to LBJ. On another thread I noted that 49 civilians were killed at Pearl Harbor by the Japanese but less that 3.5 years later over 80,000 civilians were killed in the March 1945 firebombing of Tokyo.

Starting wars has consequences, especially if starting one against a larger, more powerful foe. Although apocryphal, the comment about "Awakening a sleeping dragon" is true.

Also true is that the antisemites and Jihadists use meat shields to garner sympathy from stupid people. Why? Because it works as can be seen by those condemning Israel but who don't condemn Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran or Qatar with the same vigor, if at all.

I don't know how to fight this war; that requires tactical knowledge and expertise I don't have.

My three guiding principles are:


HAMAS is a terrorist syndicate

Israel has the right to exterminate or severely degrade Hamas.

Every reasonable precaution should be taken to minimize harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The main way the US won the War on Terror wasn't bombs, but banks. Cutting their funding. Cut the way they transfer money. Cut their way to spend money.

Thousands of rockets, millions of rounds of ammunition and thousands of weapons along with uniforms, medical aid, food, training and everything else that goes into making an army costs money. Cut the funding and they'll shrivel on the vine.

This is why I find it disturbing that so many on the Left are condemning Israel and not Iran and Qatar for funding Hamas and Hezbollah.

Of course, the occasional kinetic weapon dropped on a leader standing on his balcony helps too. :thup:

Then in your fucked up opinion Hamas had the right to murder 1400 innocent Isralies. You sound like Adolph and the final solution.

First off a lot of those people were killed by the IDF....secondly Oct 7 happened only because the IDF and Mossad were extremely incompetent or because they wanted it to happen, and thirdly this response by Israel and because it can only happen with US approval America also puts in grave doubt the continued existence of Israel and also rapidly ramps up the worlds determination that the abusive America must be removed from global power immediately.

The PLO set the rules for the conflict decades ago.
Now they can live [or die] with them.

Hamas is using the same tactics that the VC used in Vietnam, only in a smaller area. The relentless bombing and killing of civilians in Gaza by Israel, including causing great hardship to the living, is playing right into Hamas' hands. As a civilian noncombatant, you would see Israel as the enemy, not Hamas. What incentive would you have to turn in any that you know? Who would you even turn them in to?

I don't know what advice I would give Israel though. They absolutely have the right of self-defense.

Hamas has no cards to play. They're like a 90 lbs. weakling that picked on a world champion MMA fighter and are in the process of being pummeled into a puddle on the floor and are now crying and hoping that screaming "STOP! like a little girl will end the beating. Israel doesn't appear to be listening...

Removing by transport or killing groups of people based upon ethnicity.

The plan here from the jump was to remove the Palestinians from GAZA, and I see no evidence that the plan has changed. Right now they are trying to make the Palestinians so desperate that they will agree to leave and other nations will agree to take them. However, if the Israelis dont take there boot off the necks of the Palestinians soon they will begin dying in large numbers.

At which point we will have at the very least a regional war, WW3 is entirely possible...likely it will go nuclear and we will all be dead.

Your florid language tries to disguise the fact that children, the elderly, doctors, teachers, moms are being killed by the hundreds. And this plays right into what Hamas wants -- to win the world propaganda war.
