US museum criticized for postponing Islamic art

More likely the museum didn't want violent demonstrators from both sides camping out at their front door.

Anyone besides me believe that if the museum had postponed a display of ancient Hebrew art that the pro-Hamas antisemites wouldn't have a problem with it? LOL

FWIW the Frick is only two miles from the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh's east end, where the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in the US occurred. The Frick was probably not the best place to stage the exhibition.

Because Jews hate Muslims? Is that a good reason to attack museums? Fucking sick.

I think the museum director made a bad decision. Both Jewish and Muslim groups say the show should have gone on as planned, but for different reasons. I agree with these groups because it shouldn't have been a decision based on current politics. And the Tree of Life murders were committed by an anti-Semitic American, not Hamas. The Frick officials overreacted, IMO.

".. Adam Hertzman, an official with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, told the radio station WESA that “few people in the Jewish community would have been concerned about an exhibit on Islamic art because we understand that has nothing to do with Hamas, which is a terrorist organization.”

Christine Mohamed, the executive director of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said in a statement that the “decision to postpone the ‘Treasured Ornament: 10 Centuries of Islamic Art’ exhibition under the pretext of potential harm to the Jewish community perpetuates the harmful stereotype that Muslims or Islamic art are synonymous with terrorism or antisemitism.”

It is art. Sick of Jews telling America what it can do.

shut the fuck up you stupid jerkoff

Are you what is known as a RAGER? Why yes,...YES you are. You REALLY need to deal with that before it finds a way to deal with YOU. ;) Might I suggest quiet contemplation and thoughtful prayer. Life doesnt have to be this way for you....

In non-war times, it wouldn't matter. A museum is a museum and art is art. In controversial times, I believe they made the right call.
