Speaker of the House - ”we don’t live in a democracy.”

we knew it was a mistake when we stopped teaching the Pledge of Allegiance in schools......"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands........................

did you think it was "to the democracy for which it stands.....

the mistake was to change the pledge in 1954 which alienated many people

It's kind of funny that some here think we are ONLY a republic, and that is the only designation that applies.

Representative Democracy. It's a thing.

Need any quotes from Reagan or Jefferson or anything to help?

projection

if you are calling my fork cutlery - you have bigger issues dweeb

Perfect answer from a Magat.

Cherry pie is not pie as i had apple pie the other day and the cherry pie had no apples. Thus not pie.

Derps do not understand categories are made up of sub categories and that confuses them.

"they call it a rok thus it cannot be argued it is cutlery".

Imagine being PmP and actually making the above argument. That because it sub category that means it does not belong to the top category?

This highlights the mistake of Red States stopping teaching logic, common sense and facts.

Great article on an issue we discussed a few weeks ago.

Why Republicans are trying to convince Americans we are not a Democracy.

As I discussed here, they are not a major party and Democracy does not work for them anymore, so pretend its not an American value of that we were not founded on Democratic principal's.

Justify your biblical rule by diminishing Democracy.

Abandoning Democracy is what the Republican party has come to.

The magas know their ideas suck and they'll never win the majority's hearts and minds, so why not just declare Democracy a bad idea in the first place? The trump team was almost successful in doing just that.

This site which rates the world's 167 Democracies now lists America as a "flawed democracy". It was on the full democracy list until 2016. We all know who came around then.
They point out that
1. Intolerance of Covid restrictions
2. Distrust in the government
3. Bi-partisan gridlock'
4, Polarization between the political parties
5. Refusal to accept election results

Where does the word democracy appear in the Constitution?

Where does the word republic appear in the US Constitution referring to the federal form of government? Since it doesn't appear, does that mean the US isn't a republic?

I am guessing you don't know what the word "elect" means which is used multiple times in describing how the government will work. The writers of the Constitution were well aware of what and how a representative democracy works. They were also aware that they were setting up a representative democracy. I have posted examples of them making that argument.

just saying we are a republic is sufficient.

No. It isn't sufficient. Hamilton proved you were wrong in 1788.

I. A republic a word used in various senses.
Has been applied to aristocracies and monarchies.

1. To Rome under the Kings.
2. To Sparta though a Senate for life.
3. To Carthage though the same.
4. To United Netherlands, though Stadholder, Hereditary nobles:
5. To Poland though aristocracy and monarchy
6. To Great Britain though Monarchy &c
