China’s billionaires looking to move their cash, and themselves, out

Unlike the very corrupt West the CCP has been laser focused on corruption and making sure that the wealthy dont skim too much off the society, but the HAN stick together, they are all about promoting the glory of China.

This is quite a sobering statistic.
Out of almost eight billion humans on the planet, only an estimated 2,640 have the resources to live decently.
For just under 100% of us, the whole thing is just a big slog.

Yes, most people enjoyed that in my party days,
even with what I had to spend.

If you're going to party as a non-billionaire,
you must never restrict yourself to what you can afford.

You mean hedonistically. Easily, the top 20% of people worldwide in wealth live comfortably. It's probably closer to 30% that do so with another 10 or 20% that aren't doing terribly.

Americans are generally in the top 20%. Are you saying that Americans are all living comfortably? Because I would agree with you, we do live quite comfortably in a global sense.

Yes. Most Americans in "poverty" own a car, a television, a refrigerator, a stove, etc. By world standards they are pretty damn good off.
According to the government’s own data, the average American family or single person, identified as poor by the Census Bureau, lives in an air-conditioned, centrally heated house or apartment that is in good repair and not overcrowded. They have a car or truck. (Indeed, 43% of poor families own two or more cars.)
The home has at least one widescreen TV connected to cable, satellite, or a streaming service, a computer or tablet with internet connection, and a smartphone. (Some 82% of poor families have one or more smartphones.)
By their own report, the average poor family had enough food to eat throughout the prior year. No family member went hungry for even a single day due to a lack of money for food.
They have health insurance (either public or private) and were able to get all “necessary medical care and prescription medication” when needed.

Compared to "poverty" in other nations, "impoverished" Americans have it pretty good. Sure, there are homeless and such that have it worse than those that are simply poor, but they are more the exception than the rule. I'd say that 85 to 90% of Americans live at a comfortable level compared to the rest of the world.

Anything short of hedonistically is not decent.

We didn't ask to be born, right?

As life was imposed on us, we should have gotten to agree to the terms.
That's always been my position.

The fact that we didn't serves as proof that the universe was a random manifestation, not a purposeful creation,
and that homo sapiens is not some kind of spiritual being
but rather merely another suffering species in the animal kingdom.

I'm truly incredulous that this isn't obvious to everybody.
 
When I went to China a decade ago I remember my host saying “In America you want to be on the Fortune 500 list (for being rich), in China you don’t”.

His point wasn’t that the Chinese don’t want to be rich, it was that people there don’t want it known publicly that you are (for fear of the gov’t).
