Here is the Coles Notes...
- He tried to overturn the 2020 election...
- He was a spokesperson for a ‘hate group’...
- He opposes LGBTQ+ rights...
- He is stringently anti-abortion...
- He wants to cut social security and Medicare...
- He is an advocate for ‘covenant marriage’...
- He is a climate skeptic...
-He tried to 'overturn" an election in the same way that Democrats in 2016, 2000, and 2004 used the electoral vote count to challenge the election results. While I do agree that this kind of childish tantrum is not something that deserves emulation, it is not unprecedented in even recent history nor is it done as often by Republicans as it has historically been done by Democrats with nary a squeak from QP!, because folks only point out this kind of thing when they wouldn't have held their breath in a tantrum themselves.
-Shocking that a conservative thinks that way, ay? What you don't point out is that the objections come from the time he worked as an attorney for a group that was specifically against that... he was literally hired to say the things and did his job.
-Oh noooeess! He doesn't want babies killed in the womb! (Someday we can go through what I think, but most old school here know I am for an entirely different thing that would also not force women to carry babies to term). I think both sides are shortsighted and think only of short term or present issues and not of a long term solution especially for this issue.
-He understands that growth in such programs as Social Security and Medicare needs to be controlled. Curtailing growth is not cutting anything, this pretends that cutting growth from 5% to 3% is a "cut in spending" even though it increases spending. This is the kind of math that makes folks distrust y'all.
-He thinks it should be more difficult to obtain a divorce. I disagree with him, but there is nobody in the world that I have found that I agree with on everything.
-Many folks are skeptical, not of the existence of warming but of the predictions of what it will do as even most "skeptics" understand that human activity contributes to warming, including quite a few scientists. I know you'll bring up the 98% myth, but it has been debunked and includes folks that think warming is true but also that it is not an emergency, and it is just deliberate ignorance and gaslighting that makes folks continue to repeat it. Being skeptical is actually part of science as a process, slavishly agreeing with a misunderstood (and not part of scientific process) "consensus" is not.
