Active shooter situation in Maine, hospital says 'mass casualty, mass shooter' event

Sounds like Maine possibly doesn't have a red flag law, ay? They should have kept him in the hospital until he was no longer a threat to himself or others. Instead the guy said he was going to do this and they just let a delusional firearms instructor with murder fantasies out into the world.

evince wants to kill trumpies, should she have her nukes taken away?

False equivalence.

Any tool can be used to hurt a person.

Note the singular designation....^^^^

It takes a firearm to hurt/kill multiple people without having to get close enough to them so that they might be able to defend themselves.

The problem is such an insane number of guns available to anyone who wants one, they can easily obtain one or several.

The mass shooting problem is the AR15. I heard the new Speaker of the House this morning say when asked if gun laws should be tightened, “People need to be able to defend themselves.” In other words, no. How often do mass shooters with AR 15’s encounter people defending themselves?

There is no question that the easy availability of automatic weapons increases fatalities & injuries in these incidents.

Mental health, obviously, is also a huge part of it. But it's not accurate to just say "it's not the guns." Of course it's the guns. These are complex issues, but guns are a big part of this.

IDK. Because they like Gun Free Zones to make it easier?

Mass shooters are suicidal nutjobs as history proves. Even Payton Gendron tried to eat his own gun but he chickened out. Now he'll spend the rest of his life in buttfuck prison...which, if he likes it, might be good for him.

Democrats are against the idea "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" despite their claims. They all live in cities where the police, if it's a "good" neighborhood, are only minutes away. They don't give a shit about anyone except those like them. The best that can be said of them is that Democrats give lip service to passing legislation for better mental health care while Republicans don't give a fuck.

you get what you give.

if you don't like it, adjust your fucking attitude
You should look in a mirror before posting or saying that, Sgt. Doolittle.

What's to dislike? Your own posts define you; angry, opinionated, zero facts to back you up.

Before 1/6 you'd usually dance around how your "unit" would back you up. Post-1/6, not so much. What changed? Were you given your Special Agent badge? LOL

This nation is socially regressive with or without gun ownership.

But you're right about the direction in which the facts are pointing, though.

We are an inferior species that deserves to go extinct.

There's no reason for "sporting firearms" to exist because in spite of what the enthusiasts claim to the contrary, there is nothing about the shooting of firearms that can be considered a sport.

Especially hunting.

How does using the clever technology available to hunters today, to stalk dumb animals in the wild minding their own business, then from a great distance, firing a high caliber lead projectile into their rib cage, constitute a sport?

Nothing sporting about it.

If people want to hunt, let them learn how to use a bow and arrow.

Done. At 6:00 pm CDT on 10/26 the top arrow in that quiver passed through this doe’s heart. She traveled thirty yards from my left to my right, staggered and toppled over backward. She is currently quartered and chilling in my ice chest waiting for me to process her to her final destination. Admittedly the bow is not a longbow made of Bois d’Arc (bodark) trees like my ancestors used to make … and the arrows are made of carbon and the arrowheads of steel not flint. But this doe will be just as tasty feeding me and my wife for the coming year.

I hunt mostly with a bow (crossbow and compound bow) and black powder guns. I keep modern weaponry mostly for target shooting and self defense.

Edit: Forgot to add picture.

Nice shot for 30 yards. Crossbow or compound?

The answer is not often enough to deter making their possession a crime in the Congressman’s book of logic.

Your comments on Democrats are off the wall.

Maine followed the law. Robert Card had his rights and wasn't charged with anything that would deprive him of all his Constitutional rights.

If Maine doesn't like the present laws, they should change them.

I favor Red Flag laws, but there should be both a clear path for temporarily confiscating weapons and also returning them or allowing the owner to determine how they should be disposed of should that be required.

Whoopee.

What part of that screed are we supposed to be impressed by?

Your callous, cold-hearted and disrespectful description of the death of a beautiful wild animal you (claim to have) needlessly murdered with a bow and arrow, or your clumsy writing style that sounds more like something out of the letters to the editor section of some cheesy hunting magazine than it does something that actually happened?

Truthfully, I'm not impressed by any of it and I doubt it really happened.

I like Gerald Ford's thoughts on the issue: "a government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have."

Disagreed on Democrats.

FWIW, they're looking great these days compared to the fucking Republicans, but they still have too many people who think "STFU, we know what's good for you!" with one-size-fit-all laws.

The part where he's not having Tofurkey for Thanksgiving.

Are you a vegan, Nomad? If not, then where do you think the meat on your plate comes from?

Fuck off, Dork Douche.

Nobody gives a fuck about your fucked up opinion.

Definition of screed: A “screed” is a long, boring speech or piece of writing with a bad attitude, like a rant. If you've had enough and you're not going to take it anymore, go ahead and write an angry screed.

“Screed” is about perspective. I just provided a true story in answer to this:

This nation is socially regressive with or without gun ownership.

But you're right about the direction in which the facts are pointing, though.

We are an inferior species that deserves to go extinct.

…which many, like me, view as a classic example of “screed.”

The shot was 21 yards. The deer expired after traveling 30 yards. Crossbow…a cheap Jackal that I bought many years ago. I added the pic I forgot when I posted.

I have a Jackal. That's a nice and handy bow. Do you keep it in your car "just in case"?

Mine has a cheapy BSA red dot on it and is collecting dust like its brothers. Cooler, sunny days next week would be a go time to sight them in.

You reply because you care.

And because you know you're a hypocrite meat eater who thinks all meat comes in Styrofoam and plastic wrap.

Nah, I hang mine on the wall. I replaced the red dot scope with a regular, graduated crossbow scope. I kept forgetting to turn the red dot off and let the batteries go dead. It is a good bow for $300.
