How to spell "us"

Disagreed that the Republican Party is "Left of Center". OTOH, I think you and I can agree all are gutless without honor and only seeking to line their own pockets.

Yes, I know you hate Democrats. Your heated rhetoric has worsened since the Insurrection.

No, I disagree. While most politicians want to get rich off doing what they do, only the Democrats really want to implement a socialist state where the government, and they, control most everything.

The Squad, and dozens of other Democrats are for socializing healthcare, socializing many industries, government run everything. They are hard on the Left. From their perspective, the Republicans are far Right. From a less myopic and reasoned view the Republicans are just Left of Center.

Yes, the Lefties want an authoritarian state via committee and the Righties want Trump as President-for-Life. Most intelligent, educated people have seen this play out in history.

The irony about Big Oil is that, to ensure US oil stays in the US for US drivers, the Right would have to nationalize it. LOL

I've been calling for a national oil company for years. It'll never happen, but it would assure stable production/pricing.

Agreed it'll never happen, but look at all the RWNJs who can't add 2 + 2.

They bleat "drill, bably drill" not realizing that the oil that is being drilled will be sold to the highest bidders around the globe. Oil prices remain the same in the US as globally, the oil companies make a ton of money and Americans are left with fucked up parks and polluted rivers.

Without question. We had the boom during the fracking rage. We had catchphrases like 'net exporter', 'energy independence' etc.. It was during that period when Obama did away with a decades long policy of not exporting any crude. Only refined products. We had so much oil (from dreadfully inefficient fracking methods) we were happy to export.

At the time, fracking technology extracted about 5% of the oil from any 'well'. They would have to keep moving/drilling to get more oil, but they could return to old drill sites that would have recovered and had more available oil. They made Swiss cheese out of the Midwest and then made a quick exit when Covid destroyed the market. Lots of them went bankrupt and abandoned unsealed drilling sites. Large swaths of states are toxic.

But none of that trivial nonsense matters. They went from bragging about production, to now scaling back on production in order to keep share prices/dividends/profits high.

They really aren't any better than OPEC. A national oil infrastructure would help. Even if they contracted out to private established companies for production. The Feds would probably need refineries though, if there was any chance of stable gasoline prices.

Big oil won't like doing that so it's unlikely it would happen.

Several years ago there was a great anti-smoking commercial that stated Big Tobacco would spend a million dollars on an anti-smoking commercial for kids "then spend ten times that telling you about it".

Big Oil is no different; they'll spend whatever money they need to towards convincing Americans climate change is a hoax, alternative energy sources don't work and "drill, baby drill" will bring back 25¢ gasoline. They use those tactics because they work.

LOL. Yes they do, but the most effective tactic is simple bribery of politicans and now the SC.

I might add that it doesn't help when the above all have investments in the energy sector as well

Like Senator Menendez and Egypt? Disagreed on the SC, with the exception of Clarence Thomas.

Menendez got lucky once. It won't happen again. He's as bad as trump.

Thomas has been at it for decades, and doesn't think he or his wife should be scrutinized.

Once we start scratching beneath the surface, I'm sure we'll see that Alito is also bought and paid for.

And that's before we check their investments.

All the Justices should be scrutinized and, as likely is appropriate, legislation on "gifts" be imposed.

In fact, the Dems want America to continue much as it always has. It is the Trumpys who want to throw it over and install a dictatorship. They will give all power to Trump and the corporations. One of the Repub parties wants exactly that and they are getting stronger. A person like Cheney or Romey, who are part of the American political system have been expelled from the Fox News Party of "burn it all down."
You do not even what the battle is about.

Which is why OPEC is so effective at controlling price (an arm of Saudi gov't despite pretense) and US Oil and gas is not.

Anyone who thinks US Oil and Gas producers are dismayed when prices shoot thru the roof, resulting in them making record profits, is an idiot. They love it, especially when someone else can be blamed for it.

So while US citizens bleat on about 'omg we need to produce more so prices stay down' they are just being stupid, as those who produce more DO NOT want prices to stay down and are not working towards those ends.

A State Oil and Gas National company could act on a mandate to provide Gas to citizens for other then maximum profits motivations, if that is what the taxpayers want.

No, they don't. They want to turn the US into something mirroring Western Europe. That is a massive social-welfare state funded by onerous taxes and backed by a draconian bureaucracy of labyrinthine regulation that strangles business. That is exactly what they've done in deep blue states and why those states are hemorrhaging businesses and population fleeing to red states.

The fracking industry was giddy a decade ago when records were being broken. Then Saudi Arabia opened the flood gates and oil was actually trading in negative territory for a day or two.

It effectively put many American companies out of business and then Covid created a double whammy.

Now it's just Wall St refusing to provide funding for more production. They took a beating during Covid, and don't give a shit about the economy as long as they make their oil profits.
