These are the 20 Republicans who voted against Jim Jordan for speaker

Washington
CNN

The first vote concerning Rep. Jim Jordan’s bid to become the next speaker of the House not only fell short on Tuesday, it was, in the words of one ally of the Ohio Republican, “much worse than we expected.”

Twenty Republicans voted against Jordan’s candidacy, far more than the handful he could afford to lose given the party’s narrow majority in Congress.

These are the House Republicans who voted against Jordan:

These people need to be counselled about their statist status quo fascist views, and why they want government to be a corporate rubber stamp.

supply side gone awry is called fascism.

Simple answer, those 20 House members just didn't think the Jordan would make a good speaker!

Some of them are protest votes that will change. I believe Jordan will eventually win. The main thing is we need to change the rules that allow a single member to make a motion to vacate the speaker. That is just stupid.

i believe matt gaetz used it to good purpose.

the purpose of omnibus bill you have to vote for is to implement a rubber stamp of government over corporatist backroom deals.

fuck that. that;s fascsim

gaetz is a hero.

you're on the wrong side.

Jordan is an insurrectionist and election denier. The fact that he even came close to being speaker is an absolutely damning indictment of the current Republican party.

I didn’t see one Democrats name on your list. They are voting against Jordan, not voting for a Democrat.

They just know Jordan would be a big mistake. His appointment will assure Democrats win in 2024.

no shit sherlock. it's traitor republicans to be targetted for non-election and condemnation.

they're done in this town.

I think Republicans are done in general. They’ve shown they lack the ability to legislate.

do you think omnibus bill tactics are good for the country?

"you gotta pass it to find out what's in it" -- Nancy Pelosi

be honest.

it disgusts me how many republicans have become straight up corporate fascist cocksuckers.

omnibus bill tactics is state capture.

omnibus bill is fascism.

They had started to divide the omnibus into multiple smaller bills. They needed 45 more days. They did a CR to work on more individual spending bills. I wasn't a huge McCarthy fan but I think he was doing a decent job herding cats. I'm OK with it taking a little longer as long as they are progressing towards a goal of dividing up the spending. Gaetz only succeeded in making the GOP look bad. I used to like Gaetz but now I dislike him. This reeks of a personal vendetta. If we come away with Jordan as the Speaker I'll be happy though.

Gaetz shot the GOP in the foot. Do you think the GOP can afford bad press with a four member lead? Do you think the Democrat party will eliminate Omnibus spending if they regain power? How about we play the long game instead of the short game.

MAGA doesn't mean what they think it means, anymore. For most voters, it means election denial, cult worship and grievance politics.

This is a pretty crucial time for that party. If they elect a MAGA as Speaker and really do move forward w/ Trump as the '24 nominee, they'll continue to lose. They need new leadership, and a new direction. Americans aren't buying what the clown show of Jordan, Gaetz, Greene, Boebert, et al. are selling.

Jordan is a Trump suckup. He is an election denier. He refused to honor the 1-6 subpoenas. He does not respect laws that do not benefit him. He is extremely unqualified for leadership. He should not even be in Congress.

There comes a time when the time is now.

Rinos failed the seize the moment.

We could break omnibus spending right now.

You fascist libertarian globalists are for it.
