I'm not a lawyer and there are all forms of prison. Consider Down Under wife-beating assholes; aren't they forming a prison of sorts for their wives? The women can leave them, preferably after cutting off a souvenir, but they don't. Why? Same goes for the Palestinians in Gaza. It's been over 70 years and now they are a suicide cult. If they weren't into it, why not pick up sticks and run?

Consider that not all MAGAts are violent Trumpers. Some just materially support the violent ones or simply cheer them on without the material or physical support. Do they share any blame for the results?

Agreed the Israelis don't let Palestinians in without clearance. Same for the Egyptians. That doesn't stop them leaving on rafts, much less Arab nations sending them boats for evacuation.

That said, I disagree that Palestinians are anymore restricted to Gaza any more than poor people in any other ghetto. They simply have limited access to go elsewhere. Do other Arab nations want them? Other Euro nations? Like the abused wife, why don't they leave. They can do so anywhere along 25 miles of beach.

I think any place you are surrounded by 20 foot high fences, razor wire, guard towers, motion detection sensors is a system set up to severely restrict your freedom. Prison might not be the right word.


On the other hand, given what Hamas is capable of, the Israeli government in the short run is compelled to make this kind of security arrangements.

It's not sustainable in the long run though, so hopefully someday, maybe decades from now, and equitable solution for all people living there can be worked out

But remember this: The violence from the Palestinian side is the reason they're fenced in and it's like a prison. If you want help you should look at the end of your own arm. The Palestinians aren't helping themselves. Israel was split into two halves one where most of the Arabs lived and one where most of the Jews lived. The Jews had bought their land from arabs in the area. The Palestinians refused the deal and started a war for all of Israel. They lost. The Palestinians could have had half of Israel instead of the Gaza strip and the West bank.

How many people in Gaza were even alive in 1990? Less than half. How many support Hamas? Read the OP.
