Israel halts electricity supply to Gaza Strip

Israel ordered its state-run electricity company to halt supply to the Gaza Strip on Saturday after the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, the energy minister said.

“I have signed an order instructing (Israel) Electric Company to stop the electricity supply to Gaza,” Energy Minister Israel Katz said in a statement.

The Gaza electricity supply is shaky at the best of times, hence most public buildings and Hamas functionaries have their own generators.

But...Israel annexed Gaza...didn't they? Doesn't that make them responsible? Or did they do something that no longer makes them responsible?

IOW, fuck Israel, they need to provide power to Gaza or stop getting in the way of Gaza doing it themselves.

Hamas receives hundreds of millions from Arab governments which they spend on tunnels and rockets. Precious little is spent on upgrading infrastructure, they are corrupt bastards.

Wrong. Israel pulled entirely out of Gaza and Hamas runs it as the government. Egypt closed their border with Gaza and has created a 'No-man's Land' on their side of the border forcibly moving everyone within about 20 km of the border out to prevent the use of smuggler tunnels from Gaza. Israel has let Gaza be run by the Palestinians who have run it into the ground.

Hamas is, in essence, having a violent street gang of thugs and criminals running--ruining?--the government.
 
They can also shut off the water....which reminds me of shutting off the air in Total Recall.

No, you are wrong. The Palestinians are now stateless because of Israel pulling out. They aren't the bad guys...the jews are.

Neither side are "the bad guys." They are two sides in a political and economic contest. Israel and the Jews are lightyears ahead of the Palestinians in both arenas. Palestine is its own worst enemy.
