WASHINGTON, Oct 4 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden plans to announce on Wednesday that his administration has approved an additional $9 billion in student debt relief for 125,000 borrowers, the White House said.

Biden has said he will pursue new measures to provide student loan relief to Americans after the Supreme Court blocked his plan to cancel hundreds of billions of dollars in debt.

The president's announcement, planned for 1 p.m. EDT at the White House, will bring the total approved debt cancellation by the Biden administration to $127 billion for nearly 3.6 million Americans, the White House said.

That's what infuriates so many people. They pay their debts while other debtors get a bailout. It's not just student loans. People who file for bankruptcy are also getting a bailout.

Who says we approve of all those getting help? When you sign for a loan do you expect to pay it back? My brother became a carpenter and worked his way up to being a Builder his number one competition is a guy that went to the University of Texas according to his ads. Why should my brother help pay for his competition's bills?

So? The reason colleges have not controlled their costs is the easy access to government backed student loans. Everyone would be better served if the government invested in a free online university. That way anyone no matter where they live could get a free education. The government could require any college that accepted student loans would have to accept courses from the online University. The bottom line people signed on to 6 figure debt to obtain a degree that would place them as top earners. Don't make bottom earners pay for their education.


In med school I took out ~ 60K I could have borrowed 250K We lived within our means and I drove junk cars. In fact my transmission exploded on I 30. There wasn't a single usable piece of the transmission.
 
That sucks bigtime. There are people paying for their groceries and utilities on a credit card and what is Joke doing? He's forgiving the student loans, voluntarily and knowingly, taken out by people to get worthless fucking degrees that don't generate enough income in return to pay for those loans.

Just one more example of Joke Bribem being on the wrong side of EVERY fucking issue.

They attend for-profit colleges – borrowers who attend for-profit schools are 67% more likely to default on their student loans than borrowers from 4-year public colleges
They drop out of college – students who do not graduate are 3 times more likely to default than those who do
