Trump promised to appoint a woman!

NO one cared that these men could not properly be called qualified as they never had to compete fairly against women or POC.

The way to correct the prior grievous wrong is two fold:

- find the entire pool of QUALIFIED candidates
- choose from the pool prior excluded and disadvantaged to bring back some balance and fairness

Biden could have easily known he was going to choose a black woman while publicly saying he would choose the most qualified or best person for the position (I lean towards the latter language because no one is going to choose the 'best qualified' if that person is 80 years old). That would have been far better for the person chosen. Instead he did what all politicians do, he was pandering by announcing it up front.

Yes i agree with that.

George H Bush was pandering to POC. Trump was pandering to women. Biden was pandering to POC and women. Gavin is doing the same, because if Biden drops out, he will run for POTUS.


I would prefer all of them just not say it out loud and act upon it. But alas, in politics, any chance to score points with a group will not be lost.

Yeah, I think it's unfortunate it's this way. I agree with you, keep it to yourself if you're going to do it but then of course they don't get the benefit on the campaign trail (is how they would justify doing it). The realty is this country is becoming more diverse and that includes inter-racial marriage of people from all backgrounds. I don't think this level of pandering is a positive thing really for anyone.

They could still take full credit after the fact. Trump could have said to women, "i put a woman on the SC', and Gavin could say to POC and Women after the fact, 'I put a woman who is a POC in'. BUt politicians are such whores they want credit before and after. And they do not care if it makes the road for the nominee more challenging.
