Gov’t shutdown, and the consequences, are all on the GOP

...and now for some more non-sequiturs from Walt...
A shutdown is the step before a default. A default, or even the step before a default, increases interest rates.
A shutdown is not a step before a default. A default does not increase interest rates.
After the shutdown, everything is paid back, with interest.
Nothing is paid back in a shutdown.
The maintenance damage is done, and needs repairs. That means it costs more money than if the shutdown had not happened.
Maintenance is the same.
Add in the higher interest rates, and it costs real money.
Conclusion based on non-sequiture. Attempted proof by void.
It is impossible for our government to default in anything but a technical sense.
Blatant lie. It IS possible for ANY government to default. A real, hard-core default. This called a debt crash.
In the case of the 'federal' government, they are simply choosing to paper over the debt by printing money. They are choosing a cash crash (which also triggers a debt crash following it).
In other words, before the default, the currency becomes more and more worthless.
Only an idiot would allow an unnecessary technical default because you are angry at society for not taking you seriously.
Yet another non-sequitur and an omniscience fallacy. You don't get to speak for me. I am not angry at society. I personally don't give a shit if you take me seriously or not, since I already know you won't (as demonstrated). There is no such thing as a 'technical default'. Buzzword fallacy.

“House Republicans are growing increasingly angry with their hard-line colleagues who are blocking the chamber from advancing spending bills — a reality that is leading some moderates to consider ditching Republicans and working with Democrats to avoid an end-of-the-month shutdown.”

“Republican senators are growing increasingly alarmed at Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) inability to pass spending legislation over the staunch opposition of a small group of conservative rebels, and fear a government shutdown may be days away.”

Even the nonMAGA GOP Congress knows it, as they, and everyone knows, that the same Freedom idiots take their marching orders directly from MaraLago.

The Republicans are in for a shellacking November 2024. The dumbasses are going to lose both the WH and both houses of Congress bigly.

Any downturn in the GDP is because of the GOP.

Hello archives,

Any downturn in the GDP is because of the GOP.

...and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

The Republican Party is finally imploding.

BTW, the GOP has been dying for years, but Trump officially killed it off through the 2018 mid-terms.

Just stick your head in the sand a little deeper, Sock. It'll pop out somewhere in the Indian ocean and you'll drown.

Since the party has become completely his, it's hard to imagine how it could exist after he is out of the picture and in prison.

Hello Doc Dutch,

There will be some bloodletting, but I think some form of conservative party will survive...even if only in the Libertarian Party.

In the meantime, the Democrats will likely rule for another Presidential term or two.

Certainly there will have to be some kind of conservative party.

If only conservatives could separate themselves from homage to big money and actually have some principles. What those might be, I have no idea. Besides, of course, anti diversity; which is really just hating on people who exercise their freedom differently.

Unfortunately, after Citizens United, Big Money rules in DC. It's up to Americans to collectively push back against it.
