“Senate Democrats put McCarthy in shutdown squeeze”

“Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is ramping up the pressure on Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to avoid a government shutdown by moving first on a stopgap funding bill that will pass the Senate this week, a few days before the Sept. 30 deadline”

“The Senate’s plan is to send the bill to the House and put pressure on McCarthy to bring it to the floor for a vote it would pass with bipartisan support if given the chance”

The Senate ought to send their proposal over the House and make McCarthy call for a vote. If McCarthy refuses, he automatically pins the shutdown, and it’s consequences as not paying American soldiers, on the GOP, and if does, good chance it passes the House with Democrat and moderate Republican support

They'll do a continuing resolution like they always do then two or three months after the spending bills should have been passed finally they will be passed.

McCarthy has the gavel and a portrait in the hall, but he gave up all power to gain those. He can't control shit. The MAGAts are pushing for a shutdown and will probably get it.

And in the meantime those on the front line defending America won’t get paid among other consequences, and that is all on the GOP

Appears “copy and paste” doesn’t understand the workings of Congress, Schumer doesn’t run the House, but if he sends a Senate approved proposal over to the House McCarthy has to decide if he will put it up for a vote, either way, McCarthy loses big

Turn the channel every now and then and you’ll understand what is really happening in the country

Meaning a handful of self serving idiots will play brinkmanship with the country’s economy, and the hilarity of it is that the same clowns will tell you they define patriotism

Bullshit. A continuing resolution allows government agencies to spend for things like pay and essential services. What they can't do is start new big contracts and stuff like that. A continuing resolution has been used by Congress for decades as a means of keeping government open while the member of Congress dither over a new budget long after it should have been passed.

Politicians talk a lot but say little. Results count and this will come back to haunt them no matter how much they laugh.

McCarthy is powerless. In order be Speaker he agreed to rules that left him at the mercy of any on Representative who wants him out. We have idiots like Gaetz, MTG and Boobert who don't know the first thing about what it takes to govern and don't care. All it takes is one of them to invoke motion to vacate and McCarthy's in a fight for his life.

It's such a mess - so sad what the GOP has let themselves become.
