Fact check: Nancy Pelosi wasn't ‘in charge’ of Capitol Police on Jan. 6

The claim that Pelosi was in charge of the U.S. Capitol Police during the insurrection has circulated both online and offline for months. On July 21 , U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, floated the claim after Pelosi rejected his appointment to the Jan. 6 special committee.


But a look at the Capitol Police’s chain of command shows that Pelosi wasn't in charge of the law enforcement agency on Jan. 6. USA TODAY previously rated a similar claim false, and other independent fact-checking organizations have reached similar conclusions.

The J6 riot at the Capitol was an attempt to circumvent the constitutional process and prevent Congress from completing its constitutional duty.
Trump was impeached and now criminally indicted for his participation.
CO2 levels are higher than they’ve been for about 3 million years. As a result, global temperatures have risen about 1°C, in a little over 100 years.
Gender is not the same as biological sex.
Some of Trump’s allies are guilty of sedition. He has dozens of felony counts related to the same series of events.
Pelosi was not in charge of the Guard on J6.

Those are just starters.

Did you watch any of the investigations on 1-6? Have you missed all the court cases? There was lots of police testimony. But this guy knows it all and has to be right. You found someone who backs the same false narrative you do.
The riot was setup by Trump and the rightys in the admin.

Illiterate fuck, I already acknowledged what is common knowledge and has been reported on. The Capitol Police were woefully unprepared for the level of violence, despite their management being informed of possible violence. What the fuck part of that are you unable to grasp?

The question is why did the police upper management not prepare why they didn't have backup? Who benefited? We know they were responsible for the lack of protection but why did they allow it to happen. The national guard was request several time but the Sargent at Arms rejected the request because of "optics". The Sargent at Arms answered to Pelosi.
