Vegas teen told cops ‘I’ll be out in 30 days’ after he was nabbed in killing of retired top cop chief in hit-and-run: report


The teen driver who allegedly mowed down a retired police chief in a fatal hit-and-run told Las Vegas police he would be back on the streets in under a month, according to a report.

Jesus Ayala is accused of driving a stolen Hyundai Elantra on Aug. 14 along with Jzamir Keys, 16, and deliberately crashing and killing Andreas “Andy” Probst, 64, who had been riding his bike, a disturbing video showed.

what happened to that time out? Lol... but all joking aside this is a heinous crime and I hope those kids are in prison for life... stole a couple cars that morning and premeditated the death of another human being... and have a criminal history...
 
He should be hanged in the town square and left there for a day or so as a reminder of what happens to shitbag criminals as a deterrent to others.

Serious, TOP, have you any idea what prison is like?

Throwing somebody in a cage until he/she dies
is not something of which we should think a civilized nation is capable.

Remember, you're punishing somebody for being mentally ill.
Sane people don't behave like that,
and we shouldn't punish people for being sick.

I think we should give them a nice meal,
even a hooker if they want it,
then say goodbye and put them humanely to sleep.

The conservative concept of biblical justice is nothing less than barbaric.
So is the concept that life's value is anything beyond the qualitative.
I don't understand people who don't understand that being dead is better than being miserable.

That's why progressive liberals believe that we are further evolved than some others.

Make society safe and efficiently by putting the criminally insane to peaceful rest.
Cage them for life?
A decent society is too good to do that.

I've tutored in "juvie"..;) And worked in a psychiatric facility...... no prisons though... I imagine most prisons today aren't very effective or in any way rehabilitative ... but we do have a couple prison programs here that do amazing things with training dogs... anyway...what's wrong with puting these killers in a facility for life and making them work... make them go to school.. make them learn a trade... make them work for the rest of their lives for free...a decent society would do that... (we do agree on this...sane people do not act like that.. I think it's society's job to get a handle on these people before they lose complete control... I'm sure they were all kinds of red flags on these kids... they had a history..)

I'm a secular humanist,
and perhaps secular humanists define decency differently than others.
It certainly would appear that way.

Letting somebody return to the perfect peace that comes only with non-existence
is more humane to me than MAKING anybody do anything....
especially making them work for free [also called slavery].

Minds work differently.
My vision of life is that it's value is entirely qualitative.
No quality. No value. No brainer from my perspective.

Being dead is far better than being miserable.

Sometimes it seems that being dead
might even be better than being inconvenienced!!!

Who doesn't have days like that?

I'm for making them learn and work... fir the rest of their lives...they lost their rights for freedom among the rest of us... (and they are being compensated ..room and board...and education.)
So you think the death penalty for these two... or just the one that rammed the car into the gentleman's bike? I might consider the death penalty under certain circumstances... As for my days?... I'm pretty much always happy to be alive... I thank God every morning... at our age we've all lost many loved ones... and we know that our time is going to come so why not make the most of what we still have? So far I haven't ever said I'd rather be dead...lol...

It's clear that our minds work very differently
so there's no validity to thinking that all people are basically the same.

First of all, you said "death penalty."
Execution is a penalty.
Merciful euthanasia is not a penalty.
It's a necessary expedience.

There's more there, TOP, than just a little bit of nuance.
Are you punishing a pet that you must put down?

Lethal injection with no anesthesia is execution.
Lethal inject under anesthesia is not. It's euthanasia.

Then you said that they "lost their right to freedom."
That implies guilt.
How is it possible for the insane to be guilty?

If, God forbid [just a common expression meaning that we hope it doesn't happen, not a declaration of faith],
you were to have a heart attack,
and in the act of falling,
you crash through a storefront window,
should you be charged with vandalism?

Mental illness is caused by an imbalance in brain chemistry.
How is mental illness more incriminating than other organic illnesses?

Finally, as for God, despite countless opportunities,
said deity has never chosen to reveal itself to me.

I enjoy life when I'm having a good time
and curse it as an imposition when I'm not.

Given that none of us got to either request or get a pass on existing,
that's what makes the most sense to me
for a person who didn't ask to exist.

Our conversations continue to give us insights
