If Trump was President w/ this same economy

It would be the greatest economy America has ever had.

Close to 14 million jobs added. Unemployment rate down from 6.3% at the start of the term to 3.5%. Very strong growth, wages going up, inflation cooling down.

In fact, an argument can be made that consumer sentiment is pessimistic specifically because conservatives talk the economy down every day, while Democrats are lame about promoting the successes.

But there is zero question what Trump would be saying if he was in office, and this was his economy.

As a regular reader of the NY Times and Washington Post, it is annoying the way they cover the economy.

Headline: INFLATION MAKES BIDEN A FAILURE

Small print, later in story: But all objective markers show economy in good shape.

I saw Gavin Newsom interviewed last night. He did a fantastic job w/ the message on how good the economy really is. And it wasn't all unicorns & rainbows - he was frank about its shortcomings, but how it overall is an historically good economy right now.

He's pretty rare though. Dems have done a bad job promoting this economy, and the media hasn't covered it well at all.

Whataboutism on display. The Bidenomics mantra isn't working! What do we do?!!! Quick! Blame Trump! Look over there! If it were Trump there folks would love him!

If Trump were President, we would not have this economy.

Thanks. I read both papers every day...and it never ceases to amaze me that way they handle that issue.

But...it is what it is.

His state is a massive shithole.

MAGA is not interested in data.

Trump is their sacred Messiah because he animates their grievances.

I just reiterated your first post. Not as mystifying as you might believe.

It's not whataboutism. Whataboutism would be if this was a truly bad economy, and I said "well, Trump's economy was terrible when he left office."

This thread is more about how the economy is NOT that bad - and a factual statement that if Trump had this economy, he'd be boasting about it.
