The U.S. military's top officer said Tuesday that Ukrainian forces had reclaimed more than half of Russian-occupied territory and stressed that the war will continue through the winter -- until the Russians are completely gone.

Speaking at a press conference in Germany, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley told reporters that "to date, Ukraine has liberated over 54% of Russian-occupied Ukraine and they continue to retain the strategic initiative."

I leave military tactics to the experts, but frontal assaults on a powerful entrenched enemy fighting behind well prepared fortifications didn't work in World War 2. The Ukranians have to conserve manpower by relying on artillery and asymmetric warfare

What is really extraordinary is how far the Kremlin stooges have had to dial back and shrink the definition of Russian victory.
In February 2022 it was an article of faith Russian would overrun all of Ukraine and turn it into a puppet vassal state.

Now the only question remaining is whether Putin will be allowed to keep a thin strip of land along the shores of the Sea of Azov he currently occupies.

The Ukraine will be totally over run within days.
