Could a Yankie who understands politics please explain this for me....


I am watching FOX and MSNBC and other news outlets, and they keep showing these polling results they have re the 2024 election race.

The polls are always bad for Biden's handling of the economy, his handling of the open border/immigration, the Green New Deal. They also show that most of the American public thinks he is too old to run in 2024, and when Democrat - voters were polled, something like 70%+ of them said the same thing - (i.e. Biden was too old to run). Equally. most of the recent polls published show a clear majority of Americans believe that Biden was involved in the illicit: bribery, extortion, money-laundering (quid pro quo)"cash for access" scandal that is currently under investigation in the House.

My query is that every political poll that is published shows that Biden and the Democrats are "on the nose" BIG TIME !! But the news programme (FOX, MSNBC etc) that is doing a the session on polling results for the relevant election issues ALWAYS FINISHES OFF WITH A GLOBAL TRUMP vs BIDEN POLL, that shows who would win the Nov 2024 ielection "if it were held today."


THIS POLL ALWAYS SHOWS TRUMP and BIDEN NECK -TO- NECK ??!!

ANY Republican would easily beat Brandon. Any. Our system is designed to nominate the least palatable to the opposition.
That’s it in a nutshell.
Both sides would rather risk losing the election rather than having someone that the other side would give even a smidgeon of votes to.
Personally I think this gives the edge to Brandon because there’s plenty of republicans that don’t want to pull the rug from Unser Ukraine.

A pickle sandwich could beat Trump. This is not a partisan election. It is not a policy election. It is an election to decide whether we keep our democracy. Not one American should have to figure out who to vote for, but sadly, a whole bunch of you still need some serious education. We won't ever get the 35% in the Trump cult. But we'll get the rest.

If I could pick one from the Republican side it would be Christie. He was about the only guy on the stage that isn't a gutless coward. And he is moderate.

Truth is, they are both too old to be running for POTUS next year.

But...we knew in 2021 that trump would be the nominee, and Biden would destroy him in '24 by a wider margin.

Biden's calm attitude and decades of service are what is needed to beat trump. trump is the polar opposite, with absolutely no policy proposals. He just panders to whomever is in front of him with lies.

Yesterday he was lying to the UAW, which worked in '16.

Problem is, now trump has a track record of union busting and installing anti union individuals in key cabinet positions.

When trump lies now, Biden will calmly correct him. He'll use trump's actions against him.

Couple that with the Republicans having the wrong approach to Choice.

I think Biden needs Buttigieg as VP, but he's stuck with Harris. I believe most people would be comfortable with Mayor Pete as the boss if something were to happen to Biden. I don't think they're thrilled with the thought of President Harris.

Agreed but just because dims have no interest in doing better doesn’t mean pubs should support someone as toxic as Trump. A lot of potential Republican voters simply WILL NOT vote for him. And by and large they don’t. Most of my long time friends historically vote Republican but few will vote for trump. It’s that 35% that keeps him going and they are the downfall of the party.
