Marines lose f-35 under bizarre circumstances

A U.S. fighter jet’s stealth abilities appear to be working too well, with authorities forced to ask the public for help finding an F-35 that went missing somewhere over South Carolina when the pilot ejected because of a “mishap.”

Joint Base Charleston, an air base in North Charleston, said it was working with Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort to "locate an F-35 that was involved in a mishap" Sunday afternoon.

The pilot was able to safely eject from the aircraft, an F-35B Lightning II jet, and was taken to a local medical center in stable condition, it said in a Facebook post around 5:35 p.m. ET.

The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing — the jet belongs to one of the unit's training squadrons — confirmed Sunday's "mishap" and that "the pilot had safely ejected from the aircraft."

"The search-and-recovery efforts for the aircraft are ongoing, and we are thankful to the agencies assisting in this effort," Captain Joe Leitner, the spokesperson for the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, said. "The mishap is currently under investigation."

Its hard to know what happened here, especially with as little as we are told. The F-35 is pretty clearly dog shit but also the quality of our pilots is in steep decline. The first thing I would want to know is who the pilot is, rank, flight hours, gender.....this smells like something a poorly trained woman would do.

Frankly, I would rather have a woman flying into combat to support me.

Or not.
The pilot ejected and parachuted safely into a North Charleston neighborhood at about 2 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was in stable condition, said Maj. Melanie Salinas. The pilot's name has not been released.

"Once they interview the pilot, we'll pretty much know everything," said Breedlove, who is a trained aircraft investigator. "Since he lived, there's no use in the conjecture piece of this. They'll know exactly what happened very quickly, and I would caution everybody wait rather than get speculating."

They know right now what happened, but notice how We The People are not told.

Let's see how long this takes, if we get a good explanation at all ever....that cant be assumed anymore.

This actually reminds me of how the Navy lost an F-35 off the deck of a carrier because it was not tied down correctly....this too is almost certainly due to gross incompetence.

Dog shit? I don't think so. I suspect China paid a substantial sum to get this aircraft "lost" and into their hands.

The days of Snoopy and Sopwith Camels are over. The F35 is a weapons platform with some of the most sophisticated weapons systems on the planet. Dogfighting is out of the past.

But I'm guessing that Beijing has a fully functional craft about now.

I hate to say it, but I doubt the best pilots the US has ever seen would have much luck with that bird.

I doubt that. They can't make metal worth a crap.

I am not sure that the JPALS system is operational yet.....with it this plane can land without a pilot on auto pilot.

Scott Ritter said recently that the F-35 is not currently very usable in the rain or at night, and nobody seems to think that it works very well under the best of circumstances... But the US cant get out of this program, we are too far in and that would be too embarrassing, and other nations only buy it because the Children in Washington hammer anyone who refuses to buy it.

CONCERNING: The US Marine Corps has issued a stand-down of ALL aircraft following the mysterious disappearance of the F-35. Under the order, all Marine Corps aircraft, inside and outside the US, have been grounded.

According to the Pentagon, the pause is to allow units to “discuss aviation safety and best practices,” and that the Marine leadership will use the standard “to ensure the service is maintaining operational standardization.”

What aren’t they telling us?
