Popularity is not necessarily a virtue in all cases. Enough people care about the comings and goings of the Kardashians to make them extremely famous and rich but they aren't necessarily adding anything of value to our society.

The fact that there are now a large number of people who live in GERRYMANDERED districts engineered to ensure a GOP victory who like Trump is NOT an indicator that Trump is good. Just that a large number of people with poor selection skills who lucked into voting along the lines of the party that utilizes gerrymandering to that effect (plus the weirdness of the Electoral College) have a preference for a lying fraud and sex predator.
