Maggie Haberman Spots Surprise ‘Confession’ From Trump In New Interview

New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman said Donald Trump’s comments to Megyn Kelly on Thursday caught at least one person close to the former president off guard.

“That was a surprisingly candid statement that one person who is an ally of his described as a ‘confession’ to me about an hour ago,” Haberman told CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

She was referring to Trump’s response to a question about the impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, in which he not only indicated it was in retaliation for his own impeachments, but suggested they were only just getting started.

“I think had they not done it to me ... perhaps you wouldn’t have it being done to them,” Trump told Kelly, then took it a step further: “And this is gonna happen with indictments, too.”

Haberman said some Republicans are worried the admission could hurt the party during next year’s election.

“That is something people had been hoping to avoid him saying explicitly around this Biden impeachment inquiry, because it does make it seem as if it is less on the level,” she said. “It makes it harder for Republicans who are going to get dragged into this to sell it in districts that are more centrist.”

3. The phony Russian collusion investigation
4 The 1st impeachment for asking about Biden's corruption in Ukraine which is now being exposed
5. The 2nd impeachment for a phony insurrection that was a relatively small riot. BLM had MUCH larger riots.

Yes Trump DESERVES a "pound of flesh" and I hope he gets it.

More proof that Republicans are the party of rage and revenge. Nothing more. No platform.

Both impeachments? Sound basis for both. The insurrection should have been enough to remove him from office. But alas, the party is also the party of pussies.

Nice you compare your party to the worst aspect of BLM. As for which is worse, there is running amok in city streets and there is running amok around and in the locked and guarded United States Capitol building, interrupting the assembled Congress from completing the certification of a new President, and driving the members into hiding. Which of the two do you think will get the major attention in history books?

Not many "laughed it off". We know the current Republican Party is as shallow as your comment suggests it is.

The Jan 6 impeachment was far from bogus. Seven Republicans voted to convict and more would have, Senator Romney (one of the seven) just disclosed, but did not out of fear your party's thugs would go after them and their families.

BTW in 2019 Biden claimed 27 % of his income to S Corp as salary not 2% like he did in 2017.

There is multiple videos of the Capitol police holding doors open for the rioters. There are videos of Capitol police giving Buffalo hat man a guided tour of the Capital. The police did not hold doors open or give guided tours for BLM rioters.
