The inevitable EV implosion

We need to decide on a standardized charging station and expand the charging infrastructure before making mandates that force everyone into EVs. Then we MUST be able to manufacture all components of the EV including the batteries and their rare earths. We also need to expand our electrical grids to accept the added demand. That will take decades to do.

Who is this 'we'? If you take the subsidies away, the EV won't succeed in the open marketplace.

If leftists wait for all that how do you expect them to destroy America?

* dictating what kind of toilet you can buy, what kind of light bulb you can buy, what kind of car you can buy, what kind of energy you can buy, what kind of product you are allowed to make, how much you must pay for something, who you can hire, who you can fire, etc.
* closing businesses and reducing economic activity to meet an agenda of Trump Hate.
* endless persecution and imprisonment of political opponents.
* making sexual perversions the 'norm'.
* funding and supporting criminal organizations and criminal activity.
* physically attacking people for their religious or political beliefs.
* advocating for civil war.
* destroying the value of the dollar.
* discarding the Constitution of the United States and all State constitutions.

Shall I go on?

The average vehicle cost is 46K. There are countless Evs under that level that will continue saving you money as time goes by. The average person drives 37 miles a day. There are zillions of charging stations in almost every zone. The arguments against EVs are gone.
If yu live in the boondocks on a farm , they may not be suitable for you.

Ah...the old expensive commuter car again.
No, they do not save you money.
No, they still take a long time to charge, and you are charging them almost every day.

You don't get to speak for everyone. Omniscience fallacy. Argument from randU fallacy. Repetition (chanting). RAAA.

And there simply aren't any significant advantages to buying an EV over an ICE for the individual.

I could see them being viable for short commutes to work, that's about it.

I kinda think that's what they want, to reduce the mobility of people in the country.

I don't know...I guess if you call 250 miles "short commute". That's what I can get on a full charge.

But the reality is that MOST PEOPLE don't spend every single day driving hundreds of miles. So I'd say the evil overlords trying to "reduce our mobility" have already won the war and we are slaves to them. Oh the HORROR!

The truth is that man is not the cause of global warming.

Guess if one doesn't understand isotope fractionation chemistry one might think that...

The electric vehicle honeymoon is over. Don’t expect the marriage itself to last much longer either.

You guys keep saying that. Let us know when it REALLY happens. In the meantime I'll enjoy driving for free (I charge on my solar at home) and having less scheduled maintenance and acceleration beyond anything you can get out of your vehicle.

What reduces the mobility of people on this country is the third world quality of our public transportation.

It's impossible to go almost anyplace abroad and not be embarrassed by how much better their public transportation is compared to ours.

I guess crackers don't care about things like that.

They're content to ride around in their stupid pickups.

But coastal sophisticates do care.

When I would travel to Europe for work half the time I never even had to rent a car. The trains in Europe are fantastic.

Idk man, tooling around in a pickup truck vs. getting shot, beaten, stabbed, robbed, or raped on public trasportation sounds like a no-brainer. :dunno:

Amen to how much better public transportation is abroad, but American fell in love with the automobile and highways, it’s a shame we didn’t do both, especially in large cities or to travel the country.

Truth Denier also believes Trump won the 2020 election so you have to consider that when he says "The electric vehicle honeymoon is over"

They have a range of over 250 miles. Define short commute. The fact is they have enough range for almost every normal drivers use.

On this board, you will see the EV haters, who do not have them , claim they are experts on them. People who own them and have real-life experience are insulted and told they have no practical knowledge. The truth is EV owners almost all love them.

Yeah, I've noticed that. You are correct.

I love my EV, but I am also cognizant that the technology is still being developed and it is not a solution for every driving scenario. I understand how someone might not want an EV but for many of us it is a PERFECT solution to our car needs.

I'm excited for the future of these things.

The 'evil overlords' (the Democrats) have not won anything, but they have reduced mobility by failing to maintain roads, trying to force everyone into EVs instead of letting people buy what car they want, trying to force 'politically correct' forms of energy instead of letting buy what they want, etc. In other words, fascism.

Then buy one. My biggest problem with EV's is they are being increasingly forced down everyone's throats by government. The number 1 cause, far outweighing any other cause, for their increasing numbers in the market place is government mandates and fiats. If, as 11 states (and several countries) have done and set dates to outlaw sales of most or all new ICE vehicles, EV's are being forced on buyers and the public whether they are wanted or not.

That is government--as the old Communist / Soviet states did--forcing choices in the market on buyers regardless of how bad those choices may be for them. This is how you end up with shitty products and grossly inefficient markets.

Blatant lie. People that fell for the EV bullshit are leaving them and going back to gasoline cars.
I don't need to own an EV to know about EVs and all their problems.

I don't need to own an EV to know about EVs and all their problems.

According to a study by Scott Hardman and Gil Tal, researchers at the University of California Davis and published in the Nature Energy journal, around 20 percent of people who bought a BEV in California, opted for ICE in their next vehicle.
https://insideevs.com/news/505232/s...lifornia, opted for ICE in their next vehicle.

EV's are neither popular nor particularly engrossing to own.

Then buy one.

I did.

I would recommend you NOT BUY ONE and just stop bitching about them like EV's killed your parents in a darkened alleyway.

My biggest problem with EV's is they are being increasingly forced down everyone's throats by government.

I've got news for you: the government already sets CAFE standards for your ICE vehicles and you survive just fine. They also demand safety additions on cars too. The government is so evil.

The number 1 cause, far outweighing any other cause, for their increasing numbers in the market place is government mandates and fiats.

You have to ignore all of those of us who LIKE the EV we own. A LOT OF US, in fact ALL OF US bought one because we WANTED ONE...not for some hypothetical future dystopia where the govenrment forces you to buy a certain kind of car.

LIKE THEY ALREADY DO WITH REGARDS TO ENGINES THAT CAN BURN LEADED GASOLINE.
