Will NOT seek re-election next year.
He has not given any reason for his decision.
Hickenlooper is popular... in Denver. I'm wondering who will run, seriously. Just a week ago Ritter was revving up for the campaign on talk radio, this is VERY sudden and leaves them in a weaker position. Ritter was likely going to lose a close race, now it may not even be close...If you end up with Hickenlooper I'll laugh my ass off.
Right....sometimes, people just get sick of shit![]()

We're getting a new gov ourselves, hopefully. Mike Cox for MI gov!
the lead Democratic candidate (Lt. Gov Cherry) has dropped out of the race citing failure to get campaign contributions......interesting that a Democrat can't get funds in Michigan to run for governor....

also heard today that Dodd is retiring.....
I can't see that. Polls were showing he was down by single digits in the polls, that certainly isn't insurmountable. Something is up, and we'll likely never find out what it is.the reason is he knew he couldn't win
After watching the news conference after the official announcement, I suspect that he was having an affair with Villafuerte as well as having problems with the investigation into the Voorhis issue and her subsequent withdrawal from consideration for US Attorney.the reason is he knew he couldn't win
Dr. Jack Kavorkian would be a great Governor for MI.We're getting a new gov ourselves, hopefully. Mike Cox for MI gov!

But I am basing this off of watching his wife Jeanie react to questions into the Voorhis issue and the fact that the only staffer not present at the conference was Stephanie. He was cheerful and comfortable answering questions about the poll numbers, he became visibly different when the one question about Voorhis was asked, he gave a monosyllabic answer, his wife looked fit to kill, and then he avoided any unfriendly press thereafter.
We just might... in fact it is a veritable probability now that Tancredo is in the race with Maes and Hick.If you end up with Hickenlooper I'll laugh my ass off.
