Joe McCarthy doesn't have the votes 4 impeachment

So you agree that even though Republicans control the house, the evidence for high crimes and misdemeanors are so weak they don't even have the votes to initiate a simple inquiry like Joe McCarthy promised.

I believe 1) regardless of the evidence there aren't enough votes in the senate to impeach a demmycrat president and probably not enough time before Biden is out of office for incompetence to complete the investigation.......but we've already seen that those are not impediments to an investigation of a president....
2) I have seen enough evidence already to not only want, but DEMAND a full investigation of whether Biden accepted bribes.....it is obvious the executive branch is not going to be trusted to conduct that investigation.......an impeachment INQUIRY is the best way to do that....

McCarthy has only a four-vote margin. Eighteen House Republicans hold seats for districts Biden won in 2020. Beyond that, many other Republicans see impeachment as a waste of time.

So what? Every democrat needs to be harassed every time the opportunity presents itself.

You apparently don't understand that this is not a vote to impeach, all it will do is allow for more far reaching subpoenas to bring forth further evidence showing Brandon and his family are all on the take. Seventy-two times banks have contacted the Treasure Department telling them they suspect money laundering. Those reports are still for the most part under cover. I am sure you believe "no one is above the law" so shut your pie hole and let this play out.

If they don't eventually vote for impeachment they will lose Republican votes and they will lose anyway. Right now this is just an Impeachment inquiry. A vote for impeachment will likely come after additional evidence is found.

OK HIstory class for Idiots is in session. Terry and PmP sit down and STFU and learn something. You ain't in Florida anymore.

Didn't stop the Democrats... TWICE!

exactly fuckwit.....a vote on an impeachment inquiry......have you forgotten 2020 already?........the inquiry begins hearings, followed (or not) by a vote on impeachment......good lord, you folks did it twice, once just weeks before Trump moved out of the White House......how can you not remember this....

When Nancy Pelosi did it, it was fully within the rules and the Speakers perview to call for a Impeachment Inquiry. There were no set rules, at that time, meaning the Speaker could set and determine that.

The Republicans did not like that, and as such when Trump took power they sought to get the DoJ to give guidance on a new rule. The Trump DoJ, did and they changed the rules such that it became REQUIRED for a vote to be called for, or any such Impeachment Inquiry would not be considered valid by the DoJ and none of their various offices (WH, IRS, FBI, etc) would be allowed to participate or testify. this was in accordance with what Kevin McCarthy wanted.

So if you are not an idiot, you see Nancy Pelosi did it correctly and McCarthy is not. He is going against himself.

fortunately, McCarthy is now the speaker....the DOJ doesn't set the rules for the legislature......the legislature sets the rules for the legislature.......

this time they KNOW guilt can be proved.....

QPeeee doesn't have the faintest idea why the republicans want this inquiry to go forward.
Banks notified the Treasury Department on 72 different occasions that they suspected money laundering and issued a SAR report. The details of that report have been seen by a very few Republicans on the committee. Nancy Mace, who by no means is a raging conservative, and although she is under orders not to give the details, has stated in a number of different interviews, that the information and amount of money changing hands was staggering.

The only way these reports can be made public is through subpoenas and until the republicans took over the house, all this was shoved under the carpet by the democrat controlled house. The republicans will likely hold off on making this public until it comes closer to China Virus season, err, I mean election season.
The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a bit brighter.

It is different than for Trump. Trump committed crimes practically in public. The Dems did not have to find crimes to connect them to. The reds are making an inquiry to try and find crimes to pin on Biden. That is so different. They have been investigating the Biden's for over a year. They have nothing.
However, Mccarthy said that the dozen or so investigations he did on Hillary were designed to kill her polling. He bragged about how well they worked. It seems he is returning to that playbook.

Nobody was banking on impeachment we are waiting for the criminal charges to be filed and the investigations are still going on.

As McCarthy said, impeachment was just a step in the process, it was never the end goal.

Impeachment has never been used like that.

The idiot MTG was banking on it. She filed spite impeachment articles one day after Biden took office.

She probably got that idea fron that asswipe congress critter and C U Next Tuesday squad member Rashida Harbi Tlaib who said we are going to impeach that motherfucker before Trump was in office

IDIOT the DOJ can't set the rules for Congress The DOJ is part of the executive branch. Congress is part of the Legislative branch.

Oh, yes. The imaginary crimes. You'll be waiting for the rest of your sad life.

This is going to dribble out till next summer then Biden will get a full-fledged impeachment trial.

Sucks for McCarthy though that Trumps own DOj determined that due to the Separation of Powers none of the Executive Branch offices (WH, DoJ, FBi, IRS, etc) can or should reply to any House subpoenas or participate in the process without that vote.

I wish McCarthy good luck on his fact finding mission.

Because you know... the Executive sets the rules for the Executive.

How Donald Trump’s DOJ gave Biden a major assist in the coming impeachment probe

...In January 2020, the Donald Trump-led Justice Department formally declared that impeachment inquiries by the House are invalid unless the chamber takes formal votes to authorize them.

That opinion — issued by the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel — came in response to then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to launch an impeachment inquiry into Trump without initially holding a vote for it. Not only is it still on the books, it is binding on the current administration as it responds to Tuesday’s announcement by Speaker Kevin McCarthy to authorize an impeachment inquiry into Biden, again without a vote.

“[W]e conclude that the House must expressly authorize a committee to conduct an impeachment investigation and to use compulsory process in that investigation before the committee may compel the production of documents or testimony,” wrote Steven Engel, then the head of DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel, backing the Trump administration’s rejection of subpoenas from the Democratic congressional investigators.

“The House had not authorized such an investigation in connection with the impeachment-related subpoenas issued before October 31, 2019, and the subpoenas therefore had no compulsory effect,” Engel, a Senate-confirmed Trump appointee, concluded in his 54-page opinion....
