Do you not know the difference between a criminal trial and a civil lawsuit?
Trump was found liable in a civil trial and judged that he would have to pay damages for his defamatory statements after he was no longer President.

Trump then proceeded to make more defamatory statements which were added unto the lawsuit for his defamatory statements he made when he was President.

He is being sued for defamatory statements made at different times. The basis for why the statements are defamatory hasn't changed. A jury ruled that Trump's statements were defamatory because his argument that his statements were true was found to be false. The evidence of the falsity of Trump's statements doesn't change just because he keeps repeating the same false statements.

Meanwhile back in the real world, Trump has to pay $5 million for his defamatory statements in the one civil trial and now a jury will decide damages in another trial for different statements he made.
A jury that heard the evidence decided differently than you that has not heard the evidence.
