Would you vote for Sikh Indian Nimarata Randhawa for president?

I'll never vote for a republican presidential candidate as long as Marjorie Traitor Greene is in Congress.
and Lauren Boobert
and Matt Gaetz
and Ted Cruz
and Jim Jordan
and Josh Hawley
and Paul Gosar
and Louie Gohmert

no one expects you to vote for anyone who's smarter than you are......

Those of you who religiously start your conversations "Well of course Trump is gross, but..." can go fuck yourselves.

He is gross and corrupt. He is also the biggest threat to the American experiment since the War of 1812. Trump is a criminal defendant in many cases, with more to come.

No! I would never vote for a Republican anymore.

Republicans are notorious for being racists, misogynists, Democracy Killers, Liars, Cheaters, and Criminals!

I'd vote to see sanity return to the Republican Party.

What would sanity accomplish in a political party with spectacularly insane ideology?

When was the Republic Party last sane, anyway?
Even the esteemed General Eisenhower chose Tricky Dickie as his VEEP.

:rofl2: I didn't even know my 1st name until my 2rd grade teacher told me it. You are so full of shit. I like my middle name because it is pretty unique. I KNOW my parents felt the same.

I also go by my middle name... my dad wanted my first name and my mom wanted the middle name... I'm really glad she won but I knew when I was in trouble...;) I use about eight different versions of my names...just to keep things interesting...;)

I was always upset with my parents for not giving me a real Italian given name
instead of an Anglicized version,
and in grade school, I honestly contemplated changing it when I became old enough.

Prior to turning eighteen, however, I had already acquired a small measure of celebrity in New England
due to boxing, so in practical terms, it was too late.

When the Gestapo was with child, as they used to say in Jane Austen days,
I wanted to correct the situation by giving him,
a fetus that we actually didn't regard as an unwanted tumor [calling back previous discussions between us]
a proper, cool sounding Italian name.

Unfortunately, my wife turned out to be as much of a Wonder Bread Wop as my mom was.

The fighting was serious, but eventually, with all grandparents annoyingly on her side,
I had to capitulate and we settled on giving him my name
with the first and middle names transposed.

Thankfully, in those days, the Gestapo wasn't too shy
to take whatever child-birthing drugs were available,
and I wasn't coerced to actually be there watching.

When my son was properly washed off,
and wrapped in a nice new blue blanket,
he and I were properly introduced in a civilized way.

He looked pretty good, and I could immediately see
that there was no fucking way that I could deny him,
even without 23 and Me being on the market yet.

As for how young people have kids now,
they have to be out of their fucking minds.

There are conservatives in their 40s who have no adult memories of a sitting Republican president they can be genuinely proud of and point to as a record of success and accomplishment.

What is insane about conservatism?

https://www.britannica.com/topic/conservatism
conservatism, political doctrine that emphasizes the value of traditional institutions and practices.

Conservatism is a preference for the historically inherited rather than the abstract and ideal. This preference has traditionally rested on an organic conception of society—that is, on the belief that society is not merely a loose collection of individuals but a living organism comprising closely connected, interdependent members. Conservatives thus favour institutions and practices that have evolved gradually and are manifestations of continuity and stability. Government’s responsibility is to be the servant, not the master, of existing ways of life, and politicians must therefore resist the temptation to transform society and politics. This suspicion of government activism distinguishes conservatism not only from radical forms of political thought but also from liberalism, which is a modernizing, antitraditionalist movement dedicated to correcting the evils and abuses resulting from the misuse of social and political power.

Reagan and GW Bush were good Presidents. Not without their faults, but I don't recall a faultless President.

I do recall some Presidents who were better for their times than others. Reagan was a good President for the times, the end of the Cold War. Not so much for Unionism and gays.

GW Bush was a shitty President for the times. Greed overtook American culture and the post-Newt Republican party epitomized greed.

I think Poppy Bush was acceptable on balance. The GOP base never forgave him for raising taxes. Serving only one term is most generally considered a failure by the standards of the presidency. No conservative under the age of 48 ever cast a vote for poppy.

In retrospect I find Reagan abhorrent, but I do not begrudge the historian surveys that rank him as a top 20 president in terms of importance and effectiveness

some of the things they're naming these children these days are pretty bizarre.... we should be breathing a sigh of relief as should our children that we hadn't lost our minds... but hey thanks for sharing your memories... and for what it's worth with child is still a very acceptable way of describing a woman with child ... because after all that's what it is...;) I'm going to chuckle at Wonder bread wop for a few days...

It's a matter of priorities. Nuclear war, loose nukes and a calm dismantling of nuclear arsenals were more important than domestic issues. Sad to say, but true.

International relations and business were traditional Republican strengths. Domestic issues were more in the province of Democrats. That all changed after the Cold War ended with the Republicans turning into the Nutjob White Nationalist Party.

I'm quite conservative as well.

I still wear a suit when I go out to dinner, often finding myself the only man in the restaurant wearing one.
[I'm not the type to care.]

I use honorifics in addressing people unless and until they ask me to call them by their given names.

I tend to prefer formal English to colloquial speech.

I was clean shaven even as a college student, never mind as a geriatric now.

I have no tats or piercings.

My thing is that I'm intelligent enough to know
that there are more modern and better function governments
and economic systems
that make ours look embarrassing anachronistic in comparison.

I'm not so debilitated by true believerism to not recognize things being done
elsewhere much more efficiently than they're done here in The United States of America.

I still love our food and think baseball is better than soccer.
I'd like for us to be better at other stuff as well.

I haven't had a reason to vote for a Republican in 53 years.

Nixon was the last Republican I voted for, and he let me down!

It was my first indication that Republicans are liars and criminals!

It was a lasting impression that has gotten much stronger since then!
