He has lowered our standards on pretty much everything we used to hold as aspirational. Honesty. Decency. Abiding by the law. Forgiveness. Love. Respect. Knowledge.

I know - "another Trump thread." It's just so striking to me, especially since his proponents come from a pool of citizens who used to be outraged by much smaller offenses, and who formerly were champions of the rule of law & telling the truth. They're now anti-cop, anti-DOJ, anti-courts, anti-equality, anti-diversity, anti-everything that isn't Trump.

They sold out. For a reality TV show host. Our tether to good governance & the ideals of our founders is MUCH thinner than I thought.

It makes me very sad. And pessimistic, which isn't my m.o.

Trump is very representative of the most deplorable segments of the American population, a huge segamnt,
and remains representative of them today, even as he awaits his trials.

To be surprised by the Trump phenomenon is to have widely over-credited the American demographic.

The TDS is strong in you. It also tells a story of how much you fear him. You are right to fear him and his movement,.......just not for the things you think you should fear him for. No doubt,.....you will learn.;)

To which I say - OF COURSE I fear Trump. I'm terrified of him and the "movement." Every American should be. They tried to overturn an election and overthrow the government. They're violent. They're hateful. They want civil war.

Am I not supposed to be afraid of that? I like this republic. I want it to stick around.
