Bringing Russia back to glory has been a goal, and he has been very successful in that, Putin is considered the Father of Modern Russia because the people see that. But Putin does not have the desire to rebuild the Soviet Union, nor does Russia have the capacity to do so.

And Putin is the opposite of reckless... he is methodical, prudent, and one of the two or three best statesman currently operating on the planet....his competence at leadership puts Western leaders to shame.

I think Putin bet on a trump re election. After that, he bet on the world fearing that he's just crazy enough to use nukes.

Neither happened. I don't think he ever believed that Ukraine would put up such a defense. Putin knows that he cannot win if he goes up against most of the free world. He might have bet that China would side with him, but thus far they are milking him for oil like an ant milks an aphid.

Strange that Putin took Crimea during the Obama BIDEN administration and did nothing during the Trump administration Putin tried to take all of Ukraine during the Biden administration . Remember BIDEN managed Ukraine for Obama. Putin thought Biden would just roll over again.
