one blade is families that need the money, but all they have left is their land which can then be bought for below market value because of desparation

second blade is for those who don't sell while the others do sell. the state uses that taxpayer money, rebuilds and increases the land value, then those who didn't sell but still don't have the resources to rebuild, or rebuild a lower class home, get forced out by government as they condemn that land as 'blight'..........keeping those families in poverty

liberals love this plan as it keeps their base in slavery while disguised as a facade of caring

Masks don't work for viruses.

The Holocaust happened. So did the Cambodian killing fields, the Russian Gulag, Mao's Great Leap Forward, and dozens of other horrific mass executions and enslavements by the radical Left.

Okay, so in rebuilding homes on Maui, the government should forget about building and safety codes entirely in favor of letting people build substandard hovels that existed before the fire...

I'd say that lack of foresight, insurance, and government regulation are more likely to "drive Native Hawaiians and local-born residents out of their land" than wealthy buyers.

Why are you against the 9th and 10th Amendment?

Like Texas, Hawaii has some odd rules as part of their state's joining the Union. A lot of the land isn't owned, but leased.

Island are always expensive because there's no trains or 18-wheelers to running to them from other states. Everything has to be shipped or flown.

Like NYC, Hawaii still needs moppers, burger flippers and other low end jobs. With high prices of living, they need low cost housing or they'll lose their workers. Unlike NYC, Hawaii isn't asking all the other 49 states to chip in with a national minimum age rate. They are handling it themselves, but the Trumpers still bitch, whine and moan because they hate the Constitution.

They absolutely do work, used properly and in the right situations.

The state purchasing all of this private land gives them exclusive rights over what to do on it.

The big issue here is the governor trying to block any outside buyers from bidding on it. He is using the power of the government to restrict capitalism so even if someone offers more than the state for a piece of property they won't be allowed to.

Or outside interests on the mainland scoop up all the land, ignore any of the area’s historical and cultural importance, builds and fills condos which elevates the rents so that the prior residents are locked out thusly leading to housing problems. Solution the right loves cause they find perfectly acceptable regardless of consequences

I have not made any conclusions yet, but for sure this is a stinky situation. I am hearing a lot of locals saying "our government has betrayed us".
