After more than two years of demanding that the Justice Department appoint a special

Counsel to investigate Hunter Biden

Republicans in Congress finally got their wish on Friday. And they were furious.

McCarthy said the decision to appoint David Weiss, a federal prosecutor in Delaware who was assigned by former President Donald Trump to lead the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden, "cannot be used to obstruct congressional investigations or whitewash the Biden family corruption."

Special counsels occupy a unique position within the legal system. They traditionally operate outside of the Justice Department's chain of command and the congressional oversight that accompanies it. Special counsels are required to produce final reports on the results of their investigations for the attorney general, but they are not required to keep Congress or the Justice Department updated on the status of their work.

The appointment of the special counsel came as Republicans in Congress ramp up political attacks and investigations of the Biden family ahead of the 2024 election. Republicans argued that a special counsel probe would effectively draw a curtain around evidence they are seeking.

They weren't furious about appointing a special council but who was chosen.

The same guy that gave Hunter a sweet ass deal to begin with.

This guy is clearly in the Biden camp meaning it's doubtful he will even try to find anything on Hunter.

It's a political show.

The MAIN POINT of a Special Council is to have someone investigate that is not employed by the DOJ which is controlled by the President. Weiss is employed by the DOJ and his boss is the father of the man he is investigating and that man is accused of being in a bribery scheme with Weiss' boss. This is an obvious scam. It also violates the DOJ rules on selecting a Special Prosecutor.

He will change the venue to California or DC where he can find a "friendly" Democrat judge.

You MAGA are just pissed cause because he, nor anyone, including the Freedom idiots in the House, have been able to prove the President is dirty, not that proving anything was ever the goal

Who was first selected by the two Democrat Senators in Delaware but regardless DOJ rules says the Special Prosecutor SHALL be selected from outside of the government. Garland is violating DOJ rules.

Ah, Trump approved the guy, and Trump appointed the guy to investigate Biden five years ago, both your but, but, buts invalidated

They shouldn't have any issue with Weiss. After all, Trump himself appointed him to the position as the District Attorney of Delaware, and declared that he shared Trump's passion and "vision for 'Making America Safer Again.'" (that's a direct quote from Trump's White House from the nomination announcement of Weiss).

Nope, he was selected by Trump. Trump even declared he shared Trump's "vision for 'Making America Safe Again" whilst nominating him, in fact.

As to the DOJ rules, they're doing nothing different than what Trump's regime did when they appointed John Durham

Section 600.3 of the special counsel regulations specify that the “Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government,” and Weiss is in the U.S. government. Attorney General Garland skirted this requirement by not appointing Weiss pursuant to the special counsel regulations. This has been the Department’s approach in other special counsel regulations.

Attorney General Barr did something instructively similar when he appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham as Special Counsel to investigate whether anyone violated federal law in connection with the investigations directed at 2016 presidential campaign activities. Barr’s Order appointing Durham invoked 28 U.S.C. §§ 509, 510, and 515 as the basis for the appointment. These statutes permit the attorney general to authorize an officer of the Department to “conduct any kind of legal proceeding” (Section 505) and to “make such provisions as he considers appropriate authorizing the performance by any other officer” of the Justice Department “of any function of the Attorney General” (Section 510). Barr thus appointed Durham pursuant to his general authorities, and then specified that the core special counsel regulations guaranteeing and specifying independence—"28 C.F.R. §§ 600.4 to 600.10”—are “applicable to the Special Counsel.” Barr thus excluded the applicability by reference of the Section (Section 600.3) that required special counsel to be appointed from outside the Department.
Sorry, you don't get to have your cake and eat it too, hypocrite

He was never selected by Democratic Senators, just more right wing lies being spewed.

Yup.

It is just so much awesome that Democrats are so far ahead of these republiclowns that we can get Trump to pick our AG (Bill Barr the deep state librul), our prosecutors (Weiss the deep state librul), our FBI head (Wray the deep state librul), and so on and so on.

Republiclowns are so incompetent that we checkmate them every time by making them put in all our people, even when they have all the power to choose.

Think about that. We can give Republiclowns tomorrow control of each and every major department, as we have in the past (POTUS, AG, FBI Head, Hand picked Special Counsels, Supreme Court, etc, etc) and YET, we democrats, in fact still pull all the strings and will ensure only Libruls get the top spots.

When do republiclowns just acknowledge their betters and give up recognizing there are just learning how to play checkers and we Dems are playing 8D chess in comparison?

Even if Trump was to regain the POTUS in 2024 and launch his retribution campaign, can we all admit that he, his administration and many other republiclowns would be ONLY ONES indicted and jailed as a result?

Does anyone dispute that based on past history?
