GOP attempt to stymie abortion in Ohio backfires spectacularly

As it did in 2022, the issue may play big in 2024. Just as the GOP ran on woke in 2004 and 2006, making sure sex identity issue were on State ballots, the Democrats will do the same in 2024

That beats a sharp stick in the eye. I bet most of them won’t. Particularly in the suburbs and exurbs where elections are won or lost in Ohio. On this particular vote the suburban folks came out in force against it. A handful of rural counties voted against it. Most for it. City folk voted against it overwhelmingly. Like close to 80%. All the suburban counties voted against it but by relatively close numbers.

This is probably reflective of the outcome of the November ballot initiative for personal and medical privacy rights. However that will only change a few suburban counties but those counties are highly gerrymandered so it is not probably going to change the balance power considering the Democratic Party organization is virtually non-existent in the rural and suburban areas so that’s in part Democrats fault for being weak.

If the Republicans are smart they will go back, lick their wounds, and drop the issue.

That’s not going to happen as it’s obvious because the GOP fears the religious right more than the general public. My guess is they’re going to try and tie the issue up in court to prevent it from making the ballot by November. There’s a fair chance of that happening. Even if that issue does win the Democrats could win 60% of the State vote the GOP would still control the State House and the State Courts. In the mean time until they are voted out. That would only happen if the Federal Courts intervene on the Anti-Gerrymandering law that was enacted in our State Constitution on our lasy citizens initiative. If the Federal Courts do intervene and force the State law they will drag their feet or just ignore the courts.

This battle isn’t over by a long shot.

Trump is on record wanting to imprison women who get an abortion, and he is steadfastly anti-abortion. This will be the second biggest issue in the presidential election, second to Trumps crimes.

LOL! Just finished reading a new biography on Gerald Ford. That man overcame A LOT (I.e. being raised in Michigan) to be an actual decent human being. But it was so great reading how upset he would get when the Bucks kicked Michigan’s *ss. Haha.
