I wasn't aware that Thailand was known for anything other than tiny little condoms?

It's not that Thailand is a military power, they aren't, what the main point of this is that China is holding more military exercises.

They just conducted one with Russia also.

What this tells us is that they feel they have their production at a proper level and their technology is ready to go so now they are practicing on how to use it.

These are things nations do before taking military action.

I would bet they are getting ready to move on Taiwan, especially given how the world didn't react to defend Ukraine.

Also, building a relationship with another nation adds a buffer to their defense, they would be able to use bases there or create them and make it harder for foreign opposition to work in the region in case something does happen.

Thailand is a major part of China's southern flank making that much harder for anyone trying to attack them. It also gives them better access to Indonesia.

Curious to see if they do anything with Vietnam and the Philippines.

If I had to guess they are waiting to see if Biden wins re-election before they make any moves, if Trump is in office it would be much tougher for them.

The Han have no intention of solving the Province of Taiwan problem with military force....that would score a - 1 for them.

Another - 1 4 U.

They may not need any actual force.

Just a show of it.

Taiwan is a pain in their ass and it's key to possible larger goals for them, Taiwan would need to go first.

Taiwan holds a military power similar to that of Canada making them a threat to anything China may want to do in the region.

The US has been building them up for decades and they do not accept China's rule over them.

I don't imagine China wants to fight them, they'd probably prefer to get their hands on their military assets and also, Taiwan is one of the largest producers of semi-conductors which I'm sure China would love to have.

But everyone knows that China is going to force Taiwan to give up this idea that they are an independent country fairly soon.

Even the US doesn't recognize Taiwan as an independent nation.

The people of the Province of Taiwan are aware that there is no actual choice here, they are not morons.

Exactly yet they are still claiming they are independent of the ROC.

China would want to crush that idea before doing whatever they are planning on doing.

The big thing is that they would want to cut off America's access to the nation. Once they do that they can close down the straight which would keep US fleets from a large part of access to China.

Another big problem for China is Vietnam which is US friendly so if you start seeing action taking place there you will know something is definitely going on.

This is how it works with the Han....if you dont stand up for yourself and drive a hard bargain then they know that you are not to be respected...you are slave material.
