That's not how the law works.

You have to show an actual law Trump broke and even though I know what you are alluding to that is not what he is being charged with.

You are talking about things such as the RICO act.

However that is not what Trump is being charged with. Smith is throwing a hailmary pass here hoping he can convince a jury that Trump conspired to overturn the election but did so without actually breaking any laws.

That is an extreme long shot and will never make it through the appeal process let alone the Supreme Court.

Arguably the only law Trump broke was taking documents from the White House and that's debatable yet he wasn't charged with that.

Because if he was they would also have to charge Biden.

This whole thing is a sham from top to bottom.

Anyway it's probably going to be at least a year until this whole thing even starts since the court date of May will more than likely be pushed back with the new charges.

By then Trump will be president again, issue himself a pardon, and be done with it.

No, that was the purpose of the investigation, the actual court case involves violation of federal laws.

You don't start a trial to find out if a crime has been committed, you start it when you think you have evidence that a crime HAS been committed.
