If this was a school in the exact same situation, only started by/run by/owned by some white Xtian, the Reichwingers would be praising it and starting Gofundme accounts to save it.
 
The discussion over this school shows the line between pragmatism and ideologues. A pragmatist can say they love what LeBron has done by donating here and support what the school is trying to do but have concerns over the results.

An ideologue says the good intentions are all that matter and anyone concerned with results either have bad intentions or worse.

Keeping kids in school without education them so that they can collect a HS diploma and flood universities with people who dont have the required skills because they were never educated is not a good intent.

It is insanity.
 
On the other hand Universities have been largely destroyed, they are now WOKE religion indoctrination centers, to some degree it no longer matters that uneducated people flood universities.

This school is set up to help the most disadvantaged of students. These kids aren’t going to Harvard. But they could be the type to go to community college or trade school where they learn skills and create a better life for themselves. That’s a worthy endeavor (although the school still needs to be held accountable that the kids are learning and progressing).

I’ve not sure what you’d recommend to do with the most challenging of students.

It was set up to capture students who were likely to not finish school, and keep them in school so that they would get their degrees. Education was not the goal, convincing them to do the time to get the credential was the goal....as the results prove.

And what is the problem with trying to keep young kids in school? Would you rather they drop out at 15 or 16? What prospects lie ahead for them then?
