Another Trump lawsuit gets shit canned.

A federal judge late Friday dismissed Donald Trump’s $475 million defamation lawsuit against CNN, in which the former president argued that the cable network’s statements about his false 2020 election fraud claims likened him to Adolf Hitler.:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

In the lawsuit, Trump’s team argued that CNN writers and television anchors’ use of the phrase the “Big Lie,” in five specific incidents, incited “readers and viewers to hate, contempt, distrust, ridicule, and even fear” him. But U.S. District Judge Raag Singhal, who Trump appointed in 2019, reasoned that because all of CNN’s statements were opinion, Trump could not legally sue the network for defamation.

CNN called trump a liar and he should be allowed to sue just like e jean carroll sued trump for calling her a liar.

Trump keeps losing cases, both his own and those against him. It would be good if God just took him home and saved Americans all the trouble.

1. The press is given a lot of leeway in giving opinions on public issues, especially for public figures.

Example, when Fox was sued for Tucker Carlson's lies they claimed:

"Now comes the claim that you can't expect to literally believe the words that come out of Carlson's mouth. And that assertion is not coming from Carlson's critics. It's being made by a federal judge in the Southern District of New York and by Fox News's own lawyers in defending Carlson against accusations of slander.

It worked, by the way.Just read U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil's opinion, leaning heavily on the arguments of Fox's lawyers: The "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.' "

2. Trump made specific charges about a particular individual. He could not prove any lies at the trial.
 
If you actually lie you cannot sue others for exposing it.

Trump actually lied.... about almost everything.

Maybe he should consider saving the money he paid his attys. for this fruitless and stupid quest, to use for his defense attorneys?
 
The truth is an absolute defense for defamation.
