Maybe this country-western singer should have done a song about wet pussies...
Mellonhead sucks!
this morning on NBC's Today Show Savannah Guthrie commented that what was controversial about "Try That In A Small Town" wasn't the lyrics but the video which incited violence......what she didn't acknowledge was that all of the video was lifted from national news sources such as NBC's Today Show....

I think the problem is you.

Ooooooh....MTB. One of the anthems from those days that EVERYONE knew!
Who cares? The song definitely isn’t racist but Aldean is playing the culture wars, and I am so sick and tired of the left and the right’s culture wars. The song is denigrating City folk with Aldeans suburban cowboy angst.
Besides the song itself sucks and is about as melodic as a semi truck engine braking and the lyrics are were written for a third grade reading comprehension level.
Want to hear a great song about small town life that completely blows this vacuous shit kicker wanna be bad ass song away and doesn’t denigrate anyone?
Then Listen to John Mellencamps “Small Town”. Which is one hell of lot better than this suburban shitkickers song.
It’s racist
Denying that it is when so many Americans see the racism in it (and yes even the lyrics imply racist violence)
What's up Mott! Culture wars dominate today, no way around it, and that includes in music.
I hated Larry Bird as a kid but have come to appreciate and love his greatness with age. They had a NBA superstars video back in the mid 80's with highlights to different songs. Bird's was to Small Town.
I know. It sucks. What ever happened to the days of “I don’t agree with what you’re saying but I’ll fight to the death for your right to say it.”.
Between the far lefts thought police and the far right’s authoritarianism “Achtung you must obey fearless leader and 2,000 year old philosophers” and the ignorance of voters not understanding that this is all divide and conquer politics by the ruling political classes this sort of tolerance, which used to be an ingrained part of American values that made us unique.
Those days and that set of values are disappearing and I find it sad and disheartening. (Of course this comment will start a round of finger pointing by both partisan sides.).
I loved to hate Bird, back in the day, as I was a 76’ers fan and watching Bird and Dr. J match up was a hoot!
Neither here nor there but reading a new biography that just came out about Gerald Ford (called An Ordinary Man). At no point were things kumbaya in our country but it was definitely a different time when there were conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans and just a different dynamic (there was still partisanship, political machines etc. etc. but not the hyper polarization we see today).
Regarding Bird, pretty entertaining to watch YouTube clips of people Bird played against and how much trash talking he did and how at times he would literally tell the opponent the play coming out of a huddle and still execute it. I remember as a young kid that Celtics - Sixers rivalry and I too was rooting for the Sixers!
