Ray Epps, a Trump supporter who became the focus of right-wing conspiracy theories after he protested in Washington on Jan. 6, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News and former host Tucker Carlson for claiming he was an undercover FBI agent who helped provoke the riot at the Capitol that day.

In his lawsuit, Epps accused Fox News of telling a “fantastical story” that he acted as a government-sponsored instigator of the violence that ensued as Congress sought to certify Joe Biden's electoral victory.

The lawsuit argues that Carlson launched a “years-long campaign” that spread falsehoods that “destroyed” the lives of Epps and his wife, who now reside in Utah but were living in Arizona at the time.

Epps is seeking punitive and compensatory damages to be determined at trial for “economic, emotional, reputational and other injuries."

I'm guessing Fox will settle for an undisclosed sum and a sealed agreement. LOL

He didn't.
Ah. You're quoting Fake News again.
Ray Epps, a Trump supporter

He is not a Trump supporter.
who became the focus of right-wing conspiracy theories
The Democrat party is a conspiracy. It is no theory.

He wasn't. He was a Nancy Pelosi agent working with the FBI.

They can't. No valid electoral college. At least seven States never chose their electors. The election faulted due to election fraud by Democrats.

Poor baby. Maybe he shouldn't have gone around instigating riots.

His crimes were following Daffy Donald's instructions. He was an insurrectionist. The Trumpys turn on their own if it is useful. Tucker kept repeating terrible and damaging lies about Epps on TV. He did damage to Epps life and he is being sued for it. That is Trump v Trumpy wars now.

1. All Tucker Carlson and FOX did was post VIDEO's od Epps over two days telling people to gather up and go into the Capitol building. You and I both saw and heard Epps say those words, correct?

2. I agree with you that Ray Epps should be prosecuted just as heavily as everyone else involved. Unless of course he was/is a FED. Too bad we cant get a straight answer out of Wray.

1. Epps will have to prove to a judge and jury that Fox and Tucker crossed the line. I doubt he's paying for this so the lawyers are doing it on a contingency basis. That said, they wouldn't go through the time and expense if they didn't think they could win in court or reach an acceptable settlement.

2. Charge him for what? Going into the Capitol? Attacking police? Exercising his First Amendment rights? Since he didn't go into the Capitol or attack police, then he's as guilty as Trump. If the DOJ charges Epps, then Trump and everyone on the stage that day should also be charged with the same violations.

And what were Trumps instructions for him?

And fox has NO evidence he was a government provocateur

Yet they repeated that lie about him

So he will get cash from them for those lies

Tell that to trump now ass hat

And what were Trumps instructions for him?

Hang Pence. Stop the certification of the electoral college votes. The people kept trashing the capitol and beating the police until Trump finally told them to stop. Then they did. The message that Trump said leave was spread around and they stopped and went home.

Trump told them to protest peacefully and they didn't listen to him so why would they listen to him when he told them to stop?

Dumb argument.

Great can't wait for discovery. Let him explain this over and over.

Exactly. Get Tucker on the stand too. LOL

“Finally, in May 2023, the Department of Justice notified Epps that it would seek to charge him criminally for events on January 6, 2021—two-and-a-half years later,” Epps’s attorney, Michael Teter, writes in the complaint. “The relentless attacks by Fox and Mr. Carlson and the resulting political pressure likely resulted in the criminal charges.”

Trump told them to “fight like hell”, too. Seems the take away from that very slightly mixed messaging at the rally was more the fighting like hell
kind given what happened, wouldn’t you say?
