Former Fox executives say they regret helping Rupert Murdoch birth ‘disinformation machine’

Three former high-ranking Fox executives are blasting Rupert Murdoch for Fox News’ role spreading disinformation in the public discourse.

In a joint statement published Wednesday, the executives — Preston Padden, Ken Solomon, and Bill Reyner — expressed profound regret for their roles helping Murdoch build Fox in its early days. Padden was Fox’s chief Washington lobbyist; Solomon was the vice president of network distribution; and Reyner was the lead outside counsel.

Can it be any clearer that Murdoch created his fortune selling fake news

I don't suppose Murdoch believed what he had Fox News put out about stolen elections, Jan 6 and the like - he's no fool - but he knew there was an audience out there that wanted to be fed this stuff, and he had people like Carlson who would do it.

Murdoch saw it simply as a way of making money. Now he's paying for it. And the more the better.

If he saw all that, and I don't disagree he probably did, how could he not also have seen it soon would all come crashing down? FOX was hit again yesterday with what will be another massive defamation payout. It's reputation for responsible journalism before was merely sketchy but now is gone. The network's very license is imperiled. And it wasn't as if FOX was struggling at the time with ratings and needed something really big to stay afloat.

Maybe the shiniest example yet of the bad things that happen to people who get sucked into the orbit of Donald Trump.

Looks like Fox News's phony news is going to come back and haunt them in the pocket book.

'Fox News 'better get the checkbook out' for latest 'not-hard-to-prove' defamation case: Morning Joe "

"Donald Trump supporter Ray Epps has sued the conservative network for claims by Tucker Carlson and other broadcasters on air accusing him of being an agent provocateur and federal agent, which forced him and his wife to go into hiding to avoid death threats, and the "Morning Joe" host said Fox News was likely to be found liable."

Morning Joe is the sex toy for Mika Brzezinski, Trumper.

You can’t believe a word either of them say.

Earl, Fox has already paid $800 million for fake news, and it's not the end of the story for Fox.

Fox News makes 16 billion a year, I think Murdoch can afford it.

I think CNN made something like 300 million.

The rest are even lower.

This is no secret and is part of the public record.

GOP operatives, led by Roger Ailes, deliberately set out, after seeing how factual and true reporting took down Nixon, to create a misinformation information that could confuse the record when favoured republicans did illegal or immoral things that could cost them their jobs, such that it would become impossible for many to separate the truth from the lies. It was based on the types of misinformation you would see communist and fascist governments use.

So while CNN and the others are not great, they are very different than Fox, whose sole purpose is try and ensure the GOP stays in power, regardless of lawlessness as they see it as the best way to get the agenda of Corporatism, tax cuts, and other billionaire priorities in place.

How Roger Ailes Created Modern Conservatism

Fox News tailored their reporting to suit their viewer's prejudice by telling the viewers what they like to hear rather than reality, of which this has gained Fox a large audience, but Fox went too far and now the roof is going to cave in on them.
