A FRAUGHT MEETING IN VILNIUS
Despite Biden’s best efforts to put a happy face on it, Vilnius will be remembered as the NATO Summit where tensions boiled over. Zelensky denounced the Alliance’s admission policy as “absurd” and disrespectful. UK Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace chastised Zelensky for ingratitude. Lindsey Graham attacked the Biden administration for weakness. Ben Hodges criticized Jake Sullivan for lack of “strategic bravery.” Even NAFO mascot Adam Kinzinger no longer appears to be a “fella.” The optics were even harsher than the words, with the NATO elites turning their backs on a frustrated Zelensky. Biden’s assurance that Zelensky is “stuck” with the U.S. may come as cold comfort to both nations now that the Ukrainian counteroffensive has failed to meet expectations, huge amounts of expensive Western armor lay in ruins smoldering on the battlefield, Ukrainian casualties are horrific, and the U.S. has run out of 155mm artillery shells to give, forcing America to debase itself by sending cluster bombs. The war effort is increasingly a shambles and the War Party is starting to turn on each other.

Seems to be going fine to me.
They are gaining territory and holding it.
That appears to have been their goal.
Right now Ukraine is simply fighting their screening forces, they haven't engaged the main lines yet and it's doubtful they ever will.
Ukraine has already called everyone up from ages 18 to 60 and they are losing them quickly.
They are running out of troops unless a western nation sends some in and that isn't going to happen.
Whenever new equipment is delivered to Ukraine and deployed it's destroyed within hours while Ukraine is only blowing up post WW2 Russian equipment.
We demanded that this be a war between China and their friends and the West....and we are losing......badly.

They have held lots of meetings as of late.

Biden thinks sending some billions there is enough.
He only cares about saying he did something, he has no interest in Ukraine outside of the bribes they offer him.
The most immediate goal is to end America as a Super Power.....for the good of the world.
Biden is mostly dead and never was any good.....he does not choose much more than his ice cream....he does as he is told by the Revolutions leadership.
I understand it was major disappoinment to you that Putin didn't win this war in the first two weeks.
Putin thought part of the Ukranian army would defect to him, and the remainder would not put up an effective resistance. Because his Intel was telling him that, and the last time Putin fought the Ukranians was 2014 when their armed forces actually were poorly trained and ineffective at that time.
Putin himself defined Russian victory as the replacement of the government in Kyiv, and the demilitarization of Ukraine.
Putin was expecting parades in Kyiv and the decapitation of Ukraine's sovereign government.
Putin utterly failed in his objectives, and now his goals will never be achieved.
Never.
Ukraine is too well armed to be defeated and they have long term security guarantees from NATO.
The only thing to be decided is whether Putin will be able to continue to occupy a thin sliver of along the shores of the Sea of Azov

Well that's going to happen regardless, it doesn't need to be a goal.
By 2050 they will have the worlds largest and most advanced military.
THE AMMO SHORTAGE

According to the AP, it will take the U.S. 5 years to ramp production of 155mm artillery ammo to 85k shells per month. This is up from 14k shells/month pre-war and 20k shells/month at current production levels.
Why the long ramp time? Obviously artillery shells are more complicated to make than bullets. The Pentagon has to bid vendors who have to scale up production lines and in some cases set up new factories. Presumably one has to proceed with care when a mistake could blow up the entire operation.
The problem is that even 85k shells/month would comprise less than half of Ukraine’s current usage level, which is 6,000-8,000 shells/day. Even at that pace, it is being significantly outgunned by Russia, which is reportedly expending 20k shells per day and as many as 50k on peak days. Zaluzhny confirmed this last week when he told the WashPost that at times the artillery gap is 10-to-1.
The balance of artillery being so heavily in Russia’s favor was one of the key data points cited by Mearsheimer in explaining why he believes that Russia is winning the war. But rather than facing facts, pro-Ukraine partisans simply smear any dissent from their rosy scenarios as “Putin talking points.”
Now Biden himself has acknowledged the ammo shortage, which is why he is giving Ukraine cluster bombs. Because remarkably, cluster bombs are the only type of 155mm ammo that the US has left available to give.
And just to anticipate some of the replies: no, I’m not an Expert
on artillery, but I do have the capacity to read and do math, which is all it takes. From the AP:
“The Army is spending about $1.5 billion to ramp up production of 155 mm rounds from 14,000 a month before Russia invaded Ukraine to over 85,000 a month by 2028, U.S. Army Undersecretary Gabe Camarillo told a symposium last month.
“Already, the U.S. military has given Ukraine more than 1.5 million rounds of 155 mm ammunition, according to Army figures.
“But even with higher near-term production rates, the U.S. cannot replenish its stockpile or catch up to the usage pace in Ukraine, where officials estimate that the Ukrainian military is firing 6,000 to 8,000 shells per day. In other words, two days’ worth of shells fired by Ukraine equates to the United States’ monthly pre-war production figure.”

When Putin starts sending me checks in the mail I will begin caring about his progress.
As of right now I am only an observer.
The fact is that nobody knows what his actual goals are or if he has met them yet.
There is a strong possibility that he is taking is slow to give his troops training for future conflicts.
Probably a combination of things.
Believe me though, if Russia wanted to they could storm Ukraine with their entire military and this thing would be over in a couple of weeks.
