It is simply a fact, and always has been that if you have a person rise to immense power, many of the people around them will be able to cash in simply via their proximity to that power, even if nothing otherwise untoward is done.


Whether it is family members, friends, or ex business partners of the newly powerful, things like lobbying or Board Seats, will open up to them. You see many law firms instantly register as lobby firms when an ex partner succeeds in politics.


And citizens hate that. They hate seeing OTHERS make huge money simply for 'who they know' and they particularly hate it when that person is a fuck up (Billy Carter, Roger Clinton, Hunter Biden).

But there is nothing, NOTHING, that can be done about that, in terms of that individual. If people want to pay for their proximity to power that is legal and fine to do. And if others get jealous and petty, oh well.

The only thing that can be done is on the side of the person who has obtained power and putting in place rules on how they can deal with those who are in proximity to their power. And as long as they follow those rules, they will be fine. Thus why Joe Biden has been fine.
