First of all, a 55 year prison sentence is even more barbaric than the shooting itself.
Humanely euthanize the man rather than cage him for 55 years.
Beyond that, however, these incidents are simply microcosms of general life in America.
A multicultural mashup of incompatible people insures that nobody is ever going to be happy or content for very long.
Yes, we have adaptable people who'll make an effort--
but we have even more people who aren't and won't.
I find it really hard to believe how many of us refuse to recognize that,
but since it's too late to do anything about it,
I guess that some people
just can't seem to face the fact that we're fucked.
Maybe people will eventually evolve and adapt, which would surprise the fuck out of me.
If so, none of us are going to live to see that.
